97 Twin Turbo
86 Tavener
86 El Che
75 Olympic Charm
68 Takahiro
Twin Turbo - having second run for new trainer and is dropping
down in distance, career best last time.
Tavener - well fancied both starts to date, both times
compromised its race with a slow start.
El Che - ran well after 8 months off at Wolves, improved on that
again next time. 3rd run back.
Olympic Charm - Having its first run since being gelded, has
nothing really to recommend it.
Takahiro - Would have to improve a lot for the drop in distance
Conclusion - There are quite a few dark horses in this race and
good reasons as to why they would improve a lot. I would go for
the top rated Twin Turbo based on its last run. Tavener has to
only get his starting together to worry the selection though,
while El Che is improving with every run back and should be
spot on today. Takahiro could easily improve past Olympic Charm
to folow the others home.

Conclusion: Top rated Hurricane Alert has something to prove
after a dismal run last time. The race before that would see
him clear favourite in this. Galago is a bit more consistent
but has had quite a lot of chances. Sammy's Choice is
interesting but has been absent for 63 days - so he's got
something to prove. The one the money has come for is newcomer
Ernest trained by Robert Cowell, who's not really known for
getting them to win on debut. I'll have to stick with Hurricane
Alert to bounce back as he sets a decent standard.

This race is more quantity rather than quality, with the
exception of two runners that are clearly head and shoulders
better than the rest. Both are trying the trip for the first
time however and it will be a true test around Towcester on soft
ground. The two at the top met last time at Taunton, where
Dusky Legend came out on top that day.
Seeing as both are so closely matched, I'll have to go for the
top rated, based on its Cheltenham run. This course should be
more to her liking, rather than Taunton.

Not much in this but I think the fitness of True Story will be
the deciding factor in this race. Vercingetorix is a true Group
1 horse and should follow him home.

An intriguing race I think, you've got a steeplechaser who is
making his seasonal debut over hurdles to protect his handicap
mark over fences for a bid at the Grand National. If this was
over fences I would have rated him 187 today. His rating of 145
is from his hurdling days 4 years ago. He obviously has
improved since then over fences and it could be just a case of
how fit will he be. He has won twice in the past 3 years on
seasonal debut but this trip could be a bit short these days and
the small field could be against him. Delgany Demon won easily
enough last time and should improve on his figure of 136 but
will struggle under a penalty to beat my idea of the winner

/>who made a very pleasing debut over hurdles at Southwell and
has
Richard Johnson up. Master Hooper has only had the one run so
is open to improvement but he'll have to had improved quite a
lot, quite quickly to land a blow against the main horses.

Very close but it will have to be the top rated Dialogue for me
who is running into a bit of form and is dropped in grade.

Bristol De Mai earned his rating over similar conditions against
juveniles, this is a step up but he did it so easy that day that
further improvement must be assured. I think Garde La Victoire
would prefer better ground, while Jollyallan I think needs to
improve quite a lot.

Some real unexposed horses in this and a lot of improvement can
be expected from a few of them. With Approval has the best
rating but is not necessarily the best horse. Birkdale Boy ran
a cracker last time over 6f after a lengthy break, I think with
the blinkers taken off and upped in trip he has an excellent
chance. Inexorable Tide is the favourite and ran an eye
catching race last time when finishing fast after running green
- he too is open to a lot of improvement. Sample is also
fancied but I think she'll have to improve a lot.

This lot are very unexposed indeed and well capable of better
than they have shown so far. El Namoose was the best of these
under the NHF race sphere and has not really been tested yet in
his 3 hurdle races to date. Some Plan has contested higher
grades than the others so I think that's why his rating is so
far clear of the others - I don't think the true gap between
them is as big as suggested. The Grey Taylor is improving too
and should run better than his 122 rating, while Stylish Chap is
totally outclassed.
