       X-Men

Five months ago I picked up the first issue of the new Volume 4
X-Men monthly series which featured an all-female cast and
decided to give it a try. I've always been a huge fan of the
X-Men and with the simple, yet promising title I figured I had
nothing to lose (other than my four bucks, of course). To be
honest I was a little bit let down after reading the first issue
and seeing that some of my favorite characters had been altered
(ex: Storm's ridiculous mohawk). Still, I didn't stop right
there. I went to my local comic shop and bought the second
issue, figuring that it could only get better.
       I was right.
Things picked up right away and I was instantly hooked. I
immediately bought the third and fourth issues which were pretty
       good.
Marvel decided to do something really cool after the fourth
issue. They created a 10 part comic crossover between all the
X-Men titles currently going out and formulated a story titled
"X-Men: Battle of the Atom". The comic book titles involved in
       this crossover are:
       September 2013
       - X-Men: Battle of the Atom #1
       - All New X-Men #16
       - X-Men vol. 4 #5
       - Uncanny X-Men vol. 3 #12
       - Wolverine and the X-Men #36
       October 2013
       - All New X-Men #17
       - X-Men vol. 4 #6
       - Uncanny X-Men vol. 3 #13
       - Wolverine and the X-Men #37
       - X-Men: Battle of the Atom #2

The story is going pretty good so far and even though it's been
finalized since October of last year I'm only on Part 4 so no
       spoilers, guys.
Anyways, if you want a good read you should definitely give the
X-Men a try. You don't even need to start from #1 as long as
you know the basic background information, which is the
       following:
Charles Xavier has died and the X-Men are not only devastated
but also are lost without their leader. Xavier was the glue
holding the X-Men together and with him out of the picture
there is tension and disagreement on how the mutants should be
led. The fact that nobody can come to an agreement forces the
mutants to split into two groups. One is led by Cyclops and the
       other by Wolverine.
       It's awesome!
OFF-Note: I saw Mr. J's topic "Comic Reviews" and being a
tremendous comic fan I decided that I too will start a thread
expressing my comic book opinions. Would anyone be interested
at all in this type of thing? And also, Mr. J I hope you don't
take it personally or anything, it's just a really good idea
       that caught my attention.
