Rat trapping
By: MattMurphyLewis Date: April 29, 2017, 2:53 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Early evening Friday instead of being out on the piss I was out
setting my rat trap at a local picnic spot. Well hidden away so
not to attract attention or offend anyone. It's not a massively
busy area but is used often.
I used a big scoop of peanut butter on the bait plate. As been
advised by a few on the group.
The strap was a spring loaded door which shut when the plate is
pushed down. Not really needed much weight or force to push it
down.
I returned to check the trap early Saturday morning to find what
I'd guess as mouse droppings no bait and the trap door shut. The
mouse or mice must of been able to sneak in to get the tastes
treat but also to leave. I'd assume then over the duration of
the night the door eventually shut but missing the little rodent
it should of caught.
Hoping for a better chance now as it's reset and rebated will
check again later this evening make sure still set then early
tomorrow morning.
The one bonus is that at least the trap has been used so there
is something in the area and they like the bait. Small victories
are better than and untouched trap and bait.

if you dont get much luck hopefully you do as rats can be wary
of strange objects. Leave the door open tie it up and dont set
it see if they go in and feed which they will. Then after a few
days set the trap and you will catch. As i say hopefully you
will get success soon but this is a fall back. Just pre baiting
and getting them confident taking the bait before setting the
cage trap. Been doing it with grey squirrels lately.Cage traps
and my mate has made a squirrel feeder were the squirrel has to
lift the lid to release the bait. He sits behind a hide and
shoots them had a few lately. i will take some pics next time im
there, Good luck..

Cheers Boxer. I'm hoping so. It's been visited again today
during the day not as much bait taken but marks in the bait.
