Moles
By: postie Date: March 18, 2017, 8:08 am

As I thought the season had ended I decided that I would learn
the art of mole trapping off my old mucker Bri. He's been doing
it since he was a lad (about 60 years) so there should be plenty
of info I can pick up off him :D.
Like Bri said it's a really good way to get permission...a few
moles for the rabbiting rights. We went to check a few of his
traps yesterday and caught 1. He showed me how to go on and I
set 6 traps myself. Me and young Harry went this morning to have
a look and 3 had gone off but we only managed 2 moles. I was
buzzing, it's always nice to get a bit of success early on ;D.

Great stuff postie. i am about to start attempted mole catching
this year. No one to learn off so it will be a massive learning
curve. Just waiting for the first traps to arrive. Keep posting
about your mole catching trips. It will be of great intrest to
me for sure.atb

Darbo, will do mate...the basics are pretty easy but I reckon
that the finer points will only come with experience. They
reckon that some moles get really crafty and become very
difficult to catch. What traps have you ordered mate?
Steve, thanks mate...all tip gratefully received.

After a bit of research postie and i might be talking rubbish
here. i have ordered some putanges which i think even a dumb ass
like me could set. i read the duffus need to be modified/tuned
to be more sensitive/effective? i can only start at the
beginning and work from there. Look forward to your mole
catching posts atb.

Fantastic Postie 👍
My mum bought me some barrel traps for my 13th birthday (not
that long ago 😂) I still have them and they have seen
some action.
I was taught mole trapping at college, many moons ago and
enjoyed it.
Like yourself, would love to take it up again.
The lad looking really happy.
Darbo, keep us updated 👍 and Postie 👍

Watched a film on YouTube yesterday all about the
putanges...like you said I've heard only good things about them.
I believe that they're fairly cheap as well although I think
you'll need few of them as you have to use 2 on each run.
How did you find the barrel traps tomo?

The putanges are £1.68 each postie you need to buy a setting
tool or setting pliers for them.
