       New Permission
By: Rothers Date: June 17, 2016, 4:34 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Had a walk with the farmer Tuesday. Clearly has a rabbit
       problem.
He had two lads with a rim fire. But we're causing a nuisance to
the villagers. Taking shots from off the road and even reversing
into one of the locals cars.
I had an appointment with him for him to show me around his
chicken farm. It's a big size with 140,000 chickens on site.
Well maintained and spotlessly clean. Except for bunnies.
Met him at the yard as he showed me his Cometta air rifle with
       wonky sights.
The wind was high and I was a bit nervous about taking shots
       with him on my shoulder.
If I failed and missed I would loose out on this goldmine.
He stated that he shoots at least 5 a night and the windy
       conditions doesn't effect his accuracy.
Sun was going down. The fields were awakening.
First shot on a windy night. 25 yards. Head shot and bowled the
       first rabbit over.
Few yards walk to another sitting out.
A quick squeak and a raise of the head to take another at 30
       yards from a prone position.
The wind had picked up as I missed 3 sitters.
I was there to impress ,as the wind died down I took a long
range shot of 45 yards, rabbit leaping into the air and falling
       white side up.
A good head shot with what he was impressed.
By this time wind is died down.
My turn to show off as my stealth mode and field craft took
       over.
Another rabbit taken at 40 yards and the next to him also taken
down with text book head shots.
This was starting to look like a carnage. The farmer kept on
pointing them out. I shot them as they fed.
I was asked to take a shot at a lone rabbit in the field. At
       least 50 yards.
I took the shot to hear him say **** hell well done.
I was on fire. He was impressed I got the gig.
My Hw100 kT. Was running low on air.
After missing two head shots and killing them with a chest shot.
I had to make the honest call and say that's enough.
2 hours and 18 rabbits later. I got the permission. Plus extra
       land there in the village.
I have never witnessed such a problem of rabbits of which he
wants them controlled. Of which I agreed.
It makes my away from home working evenings more pleasant.

Hopefully get some good ferreting there winter time. But for now
I have no option to cut the numbers down with an air rifle.I
have had a request not to shoot the foxes ,because they keep the
       numbers down...
I nearly swallowed my tongue when he said that. :D :D :D :D

Good do steve, i have a bit like that at the minute, had a peek
the other night when i was fishing, rabbits everywhere. Only
problem he has just seeded the field. Gonna get at them with
ferret when grass gets a hold. Its the bit i asked darbo on for
a days ferreting last season and we got 52. Will have to get a
       look out with my 100.

Sounds a brilliant find its actually rare around here to find a
spot where rabbits are in such a number to cause a problem
