April 1, 2014 ELECTION

Just a reminder that there is an election on April 1, 2014. For
the primary in Rapids, 16.4% of registered voters headed to the
polls I would LOVE to see that % closer to 50%!
James Garfield once said:
"Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the
character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless
and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance,
recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and
pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to
represent them in the national legislature…. If the next
centennial does not find us a great nation … it will be because
those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the
morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political
forces."
We are the ones to blame for the shape our country is in because
we tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption.

I'm not in your district Steve, but I wish you luck! The guy
holding that seat now is harmful to us all. Mr.
What-do-we-need-new-businesses-for-Rayome. Go get him outta
there. ;)

Rayome is a union hack.
He is a union member in a local paper mill.
As city council member he has repeatedly voted against all non
union contracts with the city in the past.
He always spoke out against and voted against any business that
was thinking about starting up here that wasn't a union shop.
His wife is on the School Board and is a teachers union hack
also.
She is all about doing what the Teachers Union wants. Not what
is best for the students or tax payers.

Well, the results are in...... I lost. I'm still around though

The important thing is that you took the initiative to run.
Too many folks bellyache about the state of things, but don't
lift a finger to change them.

Not quite sure this is a good metaphor. Should have gone with
keeping their feet in the fire. Poor attempt at posting,
Mr.steve. Perhaps you would have better luck straightening out
the local government, if you could get elected, but I doubt it.
