Re: Transgender or just a little perv?

I guess I don't understand this transgender stuff. I know I am
going to get everyone in a tizzy by being politically incorrect
here but...oh well here it goes. Back in the olden days when a
man felt like a woman he was called a fairy and was the feminine
half of a homosexual male relationship. A woman who felt like a
man was called a dyke and was the masculine half of a homosexual
female relationship. The masculine female used the woman's
bathroom and the feminine male used the man's bathroom. There
was no uproar about it...the media wasn't contacted....there
were no cries of injustice or lawsuits filed. Geez...those were
the good old days.

There's a difference, though, Jeeps.
Homosexuals seem "swishy" or "dykey", but they still identify
with and live as the sex they were born with.
Transsexuals identify as the opposite sex, and want to live as a
member of that sex.
Now, "in the old days", I'm sure there were a lot of gays who
would rather been trans, but society just didn't allow it.
And a lot of people who identified as the opposite sex just
lived an unhappy existence.
When I was 11, my dad started coaching women's softball. We were
all naive, but after about a year we figured out that a number
of the girls were gay, including one that was married to a man.
We never had an issue with it, even though it was really not
cool to be too open back in the late 60's. But we were all taken
aback when about 10 years later we learned one of the girls
transitioned to a man...complete with the surgery. This is one
we never felt was gay....she really wasn't. She just was born
feeling she was male. It was kinda sad when we ran into him at a
campground...we are sure he recognized us, but this is WR, and
apparently "Betty" moved to Australia, and "Ben" lived here now.

The "good old days" did distinguish between the word meanings of
"sex" and "gender". " Sex, specific to biology of male ore
female. Gender in a more psycho/social form, or specifically as
the correct usage of language, ie. "he or she".
The "good old days" also often used the word "transsexual" when
it came to matters of having a "personal world" view which was
contradictory to the physical body a person was born into.
Fast forward to today and as many things regarding language,
there are changes...as do the ways we verbally express ideas.
Transgender is not about sexual orientation as is the segment of
our population that identifies as lesbian, gay or bi-sexual.
Btw: the word "Fukk" was once a commonplace term, acceptable to
be used by anyone at any time.

I don't think it needs to be a huge media event either. If
someone's gay, then they are. If they are trans, then they are.
Big deal.
If you have male parts, use the male restroom. If you have
female parts, use the other one.
If you aren't' comfortable in either, find a unisex or gender
neutral facility.

Well, if they have to use gender neutral bathrooms, the easily
offended should probably stick with the ladies and the gents.
