Sure, and most prisoners don't want 12 months in solitary, lol.
When they do join in it's called a prison riot, and guards do
get killed.
You are of course missing the entire point, that guards, despite
assaults not being unusual, somehow manage to handle day to day
threats without firearms.
Don't they "fear for their life" (tm) when someone points a
spork at them?

I didn't say whether or not it was relevant. You said the # of
police shootings is "minuscule". I commented that the number
of police killed by perps is even more minuscule.
If you are going to dismiss one statistic because it's too
small, you can also dismiss the other because it's even smaller.

The shooter is a gay, black man who was disciplined at work for
wearing an Obama button while reporting on elections.
The left wing HAS to blame the gun. :)

The threat of firearms is there. From the towers. You also
seem to minimize the threats from "sporks". Even in jest.
Those, like the handles of toothbrushes can be formed into a
shank without a lot of work. Do not try to minimize the threat
from these animals. This is one reason why you can not compare
the general population outside the walls to those inside of the
walls.
When dealing with those inside the walls you're dealing with a
majority of animals. When dealing with those outside the walls
you're dealing primarily with law abiding individuals. That's
why trying to compare one population with the other, like you
did earlier, is impossible.
