Rapids an addendum
I am spending more time now (due to work) in Chicago so that may
frame why so many of my responses use Chicago..... anyways a few
weeks ago there was a shooting (again on the south side) the
suspect was fleeing in a car, the police siting safety dropped
off the pursuit and the alleged shooter continued to race away
ran over a mother and her baby in a stroller. WHO GOT THE BLAME
The police are being sued by the victims family. Why is a
shooter not being held accountable for his actions by this
family instead the police? Should every time a suspect runs they
let them go with out pursuit or use of their weapons? If thats
the case guess what people are going to do

How much money can they get from the city?
How much money can they get from the thug driver?
It isn't about justice. It is about personal greed.

In almost every incidents where the black activists and liberal
media have gone after the police. The shootings were more then
justified.

Brown appears justified, Tamir Rice, Walter Scott, not so
much. Garner was unnecessary. There's a mixed bag for sure.
Seems other countries can subdue drug addicts and the mentally
ill without shooting them, why can't we? Heck, even here we
manage to control these same populations every day in the
prisons and institutions, no guns needed. When it comes to LE
we confuse "justifiable" with "necessary" and never ask if the
cops had less lethal options at their disposal.

There 'ya go. SOP to sue the party with the deepest pockets.
The driver likely has nothing to take.

What non-lethal method can be used? Here are 283 names of those
lost lives from a non-lethal weapon.
According to Amnesty International, between 2001 and 2008, 351
people in the United States died after being shocked by police
Tasers. Our blog has documented another 283 taser-related deaths
in the United States in 2009-2014. That means there have been
634 documented taser-related deaths in America.

Those are only a handful of examples.
Brown shooting was justified.
Garner became belligerent with Officers and resisted. The take
down was standard. He had health issues that contributed to his
death. Asthma, heart disease , and obesity that alone can kill.
Tamir Rice was udder stupidity and incompetence.
Walter Scott was murder.
Other countries that you speak of don't have out of control thug
behavior and mentality.
Nor the gang problems that we have.
Prison is an extremely controlled environment with no chance of
getting away. And there are firearms there.

A few minutes with Google says that parts of Europe and Canada
do have significant problems with violent gangs. But let's
ignore that for a moment. IMHO we're just a bit trigger happy
in general over here.
We have cops plugging the mentally ill when they refuse to drop
a teaspoon. He was "holding it aggressively", so it's OK I
guess.
Repeat with mentally ill man standing on his porch with
screwdriver, another reaching into his car for his wallet after
the officer told him to, another merely climbing a dark
stairway to his apartment.... So on, so forth.
These folks were in no sense of the word, endangering the cop,
unless you torture the word "endangered" so badly it's no longer
recognizable. This stuff doesn't seem to happen elsewhere
either. Judgment, judgment, judgment.
Prison is an extremely controlled environment with no

Agreed. But not really the point. Violent altercations and
guards being threatened with weapons aren't uncommon. When's
the last time you heard of a prison guard shooting a prisoner
dead who threatened or attacked him? Likely never.

What non-lethal method can be used? Here are 283 names of those
lost lives from a non-lethal weapon.
Without knowing the total number of taser deployments I can't
make a judgment on that.
Are those deaths 10% of the total? 1%? 0.0001%?
How does that risk compare with the survival rates for multiple
bullet wounds?

No guns in prisons? Wrong! Tower guards are armed in many
prions and will use them a "necessary". Prisoners know this.
Prisoners are also subject to more stricter sanctions as the
have less rights. If you see somebody breaking a law on the
street you can't immediately throw them in a segregation unit
then start an investigation. The comparison is hardly viable.
When your in the heat of the moment, stopping to decide whether
one use of force is justifiable and the other necessary could
cost you your life. If it were me under the circumstances I'm
going with guaranteed stopping power. Darrin Wilson tried that
and it almost cost him his life.

I know that in the industry I work that when you see a problem
that appears over and over again, like the police shootings, we
begin to look at how are we training the people. We can all
point fingers at the "BAD COPS" I guess maybe I think they are
not bad cops just people who are not properly trained for the
job they have. Its the same problem we have with education. We
compare ourselves to other countries, but that can be an
oversimplification. Other countries value teachers more and pay
them better and make sure they are properly trained and that the
training is ongoing. In this country teachers like the Police
are not respected, and poorly trained and have little ongoing
training that is really significant. Look at the scandal in
Chicago with the principal training system. It was given to a
group who had ties to the CEO and offered little in the way of
actual training while costing that city 10s of millions of
dollars. I hear all the time parents who have little education
beyond high school complaining about how their teacher is wrong,
well more often my experience is these kids are brats and a
burden on the class room and the parents should actually listen
to the teacher about why their star is not shinning. The same
goes with the police. Their is no respect for them. Look at
Michael Brown evidence proves he reached into the squad car. The
incident I mentioned in Chicago the guys ran from the police
because the new protocol is not to pursue. Just last week there
was another pedestrian killed by a person who had been pulled
over by the police and when the officer approached the car he
took off. But we should blame the police. They are ill equipped
and poorly trained for the work they have to face in certain
areas. Look at the number of police killed on duty and look at
the ethnicity of who killed them. Again the chances of a cop
being killed by 4 60 year old white guys in a Lincoln town car
that was speeding verses 4 20 year old person of color, well the
facts point out which is more dangerous. The fact that these
officers put their lives on the line every day, its easy for
people to arm chair quarterback how they are doing a bad job,
but I wonder how any of us would do in that same position.
