Schilling vs McHale

If the title seems like something that belongs in sports allow
me to clarify. By now you may heard about a former Major League
Pitcher and current ESPN analyst Curt Schilling and a sordid
incident involving Twitter and his daughter. I will return to
the Schillings shortly, but for context I will speak about the
McHales.
Former Boston Celtics Center and current Houston Rockets Head
Coach Kevin McHale. One biggest regrets of my life was not
trying to Introduce myself to him at the wedding of his niece
which I attended. What a shame on my part because I did get a
chance to meet some of his family and I found them to be some of
nicest down to earth people you would ever meet. Why do mention
this? A couple of years ago Kevin daughter died and Yahoo Sports
saw fit to write a story about her passing. All in all the story
was tasteful and respectful, as much could not be said of the
comments section. I don't know what on earth Kevin McHale could
have possibly done to make any anyone believe it to appropriate
to say vile things direct towards upon announcing the death of a
family member! A couple of months I met up with the niece and I
must say they dealt with this all in stride. Power to them, the
McHales not the haters! Contrast to Schillings.
In case you haven't heard Curt Schilling has daughter that is in
college and is about to play softball. Proud father that he is
he posted this a some photos on Twitter and Twitter Trolls made
their opinions known and for the most part the response was
polite and harmless. Of course there were some that were not
nice at all. If fact, some of those comments hinged on RAPE
FANTASY vile. Curt has seen fit to retaliate in the form of
hunting down some of these people down and so far at least 3
people have either been fired from jobs or suspended from their
schools more expected.
This is the world we live in now. Any illusion that your online
life is somehow completely removed from the rest of your life
ought to be shattered. Will that be learned?
