I was having a discussion the other day about meat preservation.
I was saying how I was told Grandma would be in her cellar
taking a pork chops and covering them with fat in glass jars to
preserve them. I found this and was wondering if any of you have
any interesting stories to share on food that your ancestors
did.

Our family never really had any 'food' traditions other then
Scandinavian delicacys over xmas holidays---mom was big on
always trying new stuff, other than various hot dishes there
were no tried & true family recipes, mom baked alot of
pies/cakes/sweet stuff but was also busy with her 'clubs'!!!
Make one of the cookie recipes often and will make a batch of
Dads mincemeat as soon as we get back to Wi

I made lemon bars real good the other day when I topped them
with powdered sugar and basil. I tried basil in the crust but
that did not turn out as good as when it was topped.

Dear 2fat,
With all your travelling adventures, is it possible for you to
tell me of a place by Winona, Mn that a guy could get a slab of
the ultimate smoked carp and/or sturgeon?
