More fallout from the Rev Al scorched earth policy

We can also blame this on De Blasio as well, his inability to
stand behind his own police department.
--- Quote ---
> Police in New York City have made far fewer arrests and issued
fewer summonses in the past two weeks amid claims that cops are
holding back after two officers were killed in an ambush.
>
> In a seven-day period that ended Sunday, NYPD officers made
2,401 arrests citywide, down 56 percent from 5,448 for the same
week in 2013, the New York Times reports.
>
> During the same period, only 347 criminal summonses were
written, compared to 4,077 for the same week in 2013, according
to NYPD statistics cited by the Times.
>
> Parking and traffic tickets also dropped more than 90 percent
compared to the previous year.
>
> The drop followed a similarly steep decline in drug arrests,
traffic violations and citations for low-level offenses like
public drinking for the week ending Dec. 28
>
> Some New York cops have anonymously confessed to the New York
Post that they aren't making arrests for minor crimes because
they fear for their safety following the fatal shooting of
officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in their Brooklyn patrol
car on Dec. 20.
>
> Law enforcement officials say the diminished numbers are the
result of a period of mourning rather than a deliberate
slowdown.

Yes I believe the officers fear for their safety.

Welcome 12cows!! I agree two more officers shot in the past
couple of days. Fortunately it looks like neither is fatal.

Perhaps, or maybe they just want to (financially) break the city
of NYC. So many different issues could be out work here. Let us
just start with the love hate relationship society has with the
police to begin with. Everyone seems to want laws to be obeyed,
except when it is YOU that is not in compliance! Then your
friendly neighborhood policeman is world's largest pig not in
captivity. Police officers have to put up with this every day,
it comes with the territory. The Mayor seems to have taken the
position of "How dare you not do that which I have contempt for
you for doing." But then again, it might not be like that at
all.
BTW, welcome aboard 12 cows :)

A story too juicy to pass on.
--- Quote ---
> The Reverend Al Sharpton lashed out at New York cops on Monday
after they revealed to the New York Daily News that they found
his **** prescription in the apartment of a lawyer friend
recently cleared of rape charges. Sharpton claimed that he is
“unembarrassable.”
>
> According to the NYDN, when asked about the find, “a shocked
Sharpton” initially feigned ignorance about the RX note for the
sex pills.
>
> “I don’t know anything about that, no, I don’t know anything
about that,” Sharpton said, “after a speechless second.”
>
> He roared back a moment later, accusing the source who leaked
the detail of trying to embarrass him with a smear campaign and
saying he would demand an investigation.
>
> “I am not saying what I do or don’t do, I’m not going to
invade my privacy for some cop,” said Sharpton. “I have no
knowledge of what was in (Rubenstein’s) apartment. But it’s not
uncommon for men of all ages to use certain things.
>
> “If the motive of the cop was to embarrass me, at 60 years
old, I am unembarrassable,” fumed Sharpton, whose longstanding
animosity with the NYPD has reached a fever pitch because of his
vocal opposition to stop-and-frisk and close relationship to
Mayor de Blasio. The tensions got even worse recently with the
execution of two cops who were shot while on duty.
>
> The prescription was just the latest in a string of tawdry
finds cops made as they searched Rubenstein’s apartment after a
top official with Sharpton’s National Action Network accused him
of drugging and raping her last year.
>
> On Monday, however, prosecutors concluded there was no case.
>
> “Given the available evidence, the degree of the complainant’s
recollection of what occurred at the suspect’s apartment, and
the results of toxicological testing, neither the provable facts
nor the applicable law support a prosecution in this matter,”
Manhattan District Attorney spokeswoman Joan Vollero said in a
statement.
>
> An investigation into #v-i-a-graGate – the police conspiracy
to embarrass the unembarrassable Al Sharpton – has not been yet
been announced.

You have to have a conscious to get embarrassed. I guess he
answered that question. :D Maybe it's the v-i-agra that's
making him "unembarassable"
I heard he's suing Pfizer trying to get them to call the little
blue pill the little black pill.

The NYC police force is basically on vacation, yet crime hasn't
exploded. I'm not sure this is proving the point they'd hoped it
would.
Seems to me the taxpayers could do a bit of herd thinning and
save on payroll.

Exploded? No it hasn't exploded but it is on the rise. Of
course the most recent statistics aren't available yet but it is
rising.
