Dems run from Obama but he keeps reeling them back in

It's kind of funny. He's toxic. Democrats don't want to be
seen with him and are running from him as fast as they can, even
some at a campaign stop over the weekend walked out when he
showed up. Yet he can't seem to get over this fact and is
submarining several candidate chance for a win.
       --- Quote ---
       > President Barack Obama is turning to black radio listeners to
plead for midterm votes, a targeted approach to drum up
Democratic support at a time when many candidates don't want him
       around in person.
       >
       > African-American turnout will be vital to Democrats' hopes in
states such as Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana and North Carolina
that will help determine control of the Senate. And Obama
remains beloved among black voters even if Democratic candidates
in those races are running away from him amid the president's
       low overall approval ratings.
       >
       > "This isn't about my feelings being hurt," Obama told the Rev.
Al Sharpton in one of seven nationally syndicated interviews
he's conducted the past week. "These are folks who are strong
allies and supporters of me. I tell them, I said, 'You do what
you need to do to win. I will be responsible for making sure
that our voters turn out.' "

Linda. I've heard this very quote from several sources today
(including CNN). If you wish to believe it wasn't said. That
fine. A simple google search will prove otherwise. The quote
comes from an interview Obama did with Al Sharpton. Or to make
it simpler for you, click on the Huff Post link a little further
down the page and you'll find the same article, word for word.

Okay. I'll take your word on it. I just don't trust the source
       you originally listed.

Pretty typical for a second-term president. Republicans ran
from Bush as fast as they could, as did Democrats from Clinton,
so on...so forth. Nothing really new here in terms of some
       dems distancing themselves.
Obama still has an 85% favorable rating among African Americans,
a group that traditionally has low turnout numbers in midterms.
Why wouldn't he stump for votes on Black radio stations? (which
is what your article is about)

Of course he is going to continue to pander to those where he
has a strong fan base. Blacks and the Hollywood elite. There
is obviously nothing wrong with that. The rest of the
Democratic party however just wish he would leave them alone.
What do you suppose this quote means?

And as long a you bring up Bush (surprise surprise :D) Bush had
the courtesy to let them run and not keep trying to tie himself
to them every chance he got.

Of course, Obama's "get out the Black voter" isn't nearly as
despicable a the Ga. democratic party's. Theirs is just
       blatantly racist.
       --- Quote ---
       > Georgia's Democratic party has a message for voters: Cast your
ballot early if you don't want to see a repeat of the fatal
shooting of a black, unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo.
       >
       > "If you want to prevent another Ferguson in their
future...vote," says a mailer distributed by the group which
was, first reported in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Accompanying the text is a picture of two young children holding
       up "Don't Shoot" signs.
       >
       > The August shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown is recounted
inside the mailer, which has already drawn backlash from some
conservatives. "What are we going to do about it? If we want a
better, safer future for our children, it's up to us to vote for
change," it says, before touting early voting as "an easier,
more convenient option" and listing nearby polling places.

Didn't the Democratic party already vote for change with a
little hope thrown in six years ago? Now they're pushing to
change the change? I don't get it. How is changing the change
going to somehow make one safer?

Obama said the dem candidates should do what they need to do.
That means distancing themselves from him if necessary.
Obama will work to turn out the black voters.
Where are you getting this nonsense:
"trying to tie himself to them every chance he got."?
Incidentally, why do you object to my bringing up Bush, but not
       Clinton? Aren't they both ex-presidents?

Well, lets take a look at the circular nature of the Obama
       statement.
       --- Quote ---
       > "These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me.
       --- End Quote ---
They're "strong allies and supporters". Isn't that him tying
himself to those runnning away? Let's not also forget his
statement about this election being a vote for or against hi
policies. Do strong "allies and supporters" run when the going
       gets tough?
       --- Quote ---
       > Obama will work to turn out the black voters.
       --- End Quote ---
I find myself asking is Obama going to turn out the black vote
(to vote for white folk) or is he doing this so he doesn't lose
       the Senate?
       --- Quote ---
       > Incidentally, why do you object to my bringing up Bush, but
not Clinton? Aren't they both ex-presidents?

I didn't object to anything. Just pointed out a consistency in
your posting. Six years or so down the line when I say Obama
did it you can remind me of this post. ;D

       I won't have to because I'll agree with you. :D He's a crummy
       president.
       --- Quote ---
       > Do strong "allies and supporters" run when the going gets

When those "strong allies and supporters" are politicians?
Absolutely. There's never been a greater bunch of spineless
chickens. They happily support Obama in DC while opposing him
back home. And in some cases- vice versa, taking credit for
increased health coverage in their states while slamming
       Obamacare, lol. McConnell.
It's amazing the crap voters will blindly swallow without
       question.
