...you couldn't say on tv? It appears it's now going to be 8.
The obscene word that makes eight? Are you freakin kidding me?
Redskin.
I hope my site doesn't get taken down for posting it.

The Federal Communications Commission, an independent government
agency that regulates radio and television broadcasts, is
considering whether to fine and punish broadcasters for using
the Washington Redskins nickname, per CNBC.
John Banzhaf III, a George Washington University law professor,
has sent the FCC a petition asking regulators to strip
Washington D.C. radio station WWXX-FM (ESPN) of its broadcasting
license when it comes up for renewal for using the name
Redskins, which Banzhaf deems to be "akin to broadcasting
obscenity."[/quote]

I would think if the FFC did that they would be on the losing
end of a lawsuit.

Banzhaf is an idiot. Those rules no longer exist- they were
deregulated back in the 80's. There is no list of words that
cannot be said.
The FCC considers indecency violations on a pretty
vague"contemporary community standards" threshold. ie: If most
members of the community might find something indecent, then it
is.
Even that rule can only be enforced between 6am and 10pm.

It should also be noted that WWXX-FM is partially owned by
Daniel Snyder.

How wonderful life in Washington DC must be that our tax dollars
can be devoted to matters such as these. Its not like they need
to...say...improve Secret Service protection details to
POTUS...oh wait! :o ::)
Immediate job opening! :-[

There are groups that challenge each and every broadcast licence
renewal, just because they can. The feds are required to give
each their proper hearing and there is no punishment for filing
frivolous petitions. There is no more efficient money wasting
machine than Washington DC.
