Watch out Snickers, they may write you a Strongly Worded Letter

Maybe.

I replied to another poster who said that wasn't what the
military is for. Humanitarian missions are an official part of
our military's purpose. I didn't post my personal thoughts on
it.
If the Africans were going to shoot at us for helping, throw
down their supplies and run and then resume killing each other
the moment we leave- I'd feel the same as I do about Iraq.
Stay out. We can't help those who won't help themselves, or
those who think we're the larger enemy. That isn't the case in
Africa.

We can't help those who won't help themselves unless they can
find a way across the border?
As I said in an earlier post, it's so easy to desensitize
yourself to the humanitarian crisis in Iraq by calling all those
affected "Iraq", not seeing them as the victims they are. As
you no doubt know many of the fighters killing those in Iraq
aren't Iraqi's. They're terrorists plain and simple. Some
Iraqi's, some not. Remember, ISIS was formed in Syria, not
Iraq. Fighters are pouring in from here, Great Britain and
across the world. "Iraq" as it turns out has just become the
battlefield. The citizens the victims.

Trolley, I have to ask you this...if the U.S. was fighting a
religious war do you think Anyone in the Mideast would come over
and fight our wars for us?
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting...

I don't know, from what I've heard, this isn't a religious war.
Obama says ISIS isn't Islam. Hard to have a religious war when
the party isn't religious.
When we were attacked on 911 did we get any help when we started
Operation Enduring Freedom?

Much of the middle east was cheering in the streets.

I understand the humanitarian crisis. The problem is, we've
already been there, done that and outside a permanent occupation
there is little we can do that will last.
We were not and will not be greeted as Liberators. Instead we
become the common enemy. If we step back out they resume
fighting each other.
I'm not exactly sure what you expect the US to do other than
keep a permanent presence there, which means permanent danger
for our troops stationed there.
If that is truly what needs to be done, then it needs to be a
shared responsibility among all other nations, not just the
USA's problem.

I for one have been a proponent of not being the policeman of
the world and keeping our forces at home. Six years of having a
barely reactive armed forces have change my mind. We've seen
what happens when we don't have forces in the region. While I
don't find the idea of keeping forces in the region palatable we
need to do it. If we don't keep forces in the region we'll just
keep bringing them home and sending them back. To me it would
make sense to just provide a little more stability to keep them
there. Not only more stability there but here as well. I heard
yesterday the cost of sending one truck back from Afghanistan is
$107,000.
I agree it should be a shared responsibility. I don't think
we'll see the likes of Putin or the Mullahs in Iran joining in
but I think, under the circumstances we can find some back up.
We have some there now. The problem is, as the greatest
military power on the planet, we need to lead and I don't mean
from behind, and we don't need to start off our military policy
stating what we aren't going to do.

The difference is about the method employed prior to extinction.
The former utilizes and exhibits the best in our humanity and is
an intended attempt to sustain life.
The latter reveals the worst in our humanity when it uses
tactics with the specific attempt to destroy life.
Both require action while we live in the present tense and not
some fear of the future.

Who needs to send troops to Africa to put them at risk of dying
of Ebola when it is already here. >:( :o
What a busy news day yesterday was with the Secret Service
Director resigning (more on her in a few moments) and some
conflicting reports (from so-called experts from the CDC no
less) upon how Ebola can and can't be spread just leaves me
befuddled. It seems the plan to prevent bringing Ebola involved
asking people from infected areas if they had a fever. If they
said they didn't, that was all that was needed to get on a plane
and land in the US, and that was all. ???
With the previous statement you could be forgiven for assuming
the CDC would have the won the MICKEY MOUSE ORGANIZATION of week
award until Julia Pierson herself made her case. Pierson as you
may have already known had previously worked at DISNEY WORLD.
This must have had a very profound influence on her way of
thinking because one of her first observations about POTUS and
the WHITE HOUSE was they need to be more "inviting" and "Disney
like" :o ??? ::)
Are these these the kinds of statements you want to hear from
people whose primary job objective is protecting people's lives?
So I am confident with any decison maker involved with Syria? i
don't know what to say but I think this guy pretty much sums it
up. ;D
