Russia buys Pabst
By: trollslayer Date: September 20, 2014, 8:59 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Back in my drinking days Pabst, Old Milwaukee and that brand
were intolerable. IMO they can have it. Maybe an undercover
way of slowly killing the Russians who knows?
Happy Oktoberfest!
Oasis Beverages, which is based in Russia, said on Friday it's
signed a deal to acquire Pabst Brewing Company, which is
headquartered in Los Angeles.
Pabst traces its roots to 1844 and owns a number of well-known
American beer brands, including Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old
Milwaukee, Schlitz and the malt liquor Colt 45. It recently
resurrected one of the most popular beers of the mid twentieth
century, Ballantine India Pale Ale.
Oasis, which also has brewing operations in Ukraine, Belarus and
Kazakhstan, did not disclose the terms of the deal, except to
say that the investment company TSG Consumer Partners has a
minority stake.
Oasis said it will not change any of the Pabst brands.
I didn't think Pabst actually operated it's own breweries
anymore, but farmed production out to third parties. The old
Heilemann plant in La Crosse is a contract brewery now.

I tried moderation. 3 Schlitz's and I would not only get a
headache the next day but I would also have the schlitz as
well!!

When I was coming of age Pabst was the "cool" beer to drink. I
much preferred the Kingsbury my parents drank.

My Dad drank Kingsbury. The very first beer I ever tasted.
And I remember him also drinking Black Label for a while.

I drank different brands during different stages of my life.
Over the years I drank Pabst, Red White and Blue, Schlitz,
Stroh's, and Miller Light.
Bud Light was the last brand I drank. No headaches.

Yup. Seems like Miller replaced it after a while. My dad
liked the oddball brands like Rhinelander, back when they had a
brewery up there.
