I'm sure republicans would be thrilled if it were Obama doing
this. :D
Of course it's Walker, so here come the crickets.
ARCADIA — A Wisconsin-based furniture manufacturer has
been approved for a $6 million tax credit even though it plans
to lay off half its workforce in the state.
In its contract with WEDC, Ashley Furniture agreed to retain 70
percent of existing employee positions in 2014, 60 percent the
following year and 50 percent between 2016 and 2018. The company
currently employs almost 4,000 people in Wisconsin.
Ashley Furniture officials gave $20,000 to Gov. Scott Walker's
re-election campaign about two weeks after the WEDC board voted.
Ronald Wanek, founder and board chairman of Ashley Furniture,
and his wife also contributed $10,500 to Walker's campaign in
2010.
1. The deal has not been made yet.

2. And Ashley said in a news report tonight that NONE of
their employees in Wisconsin are going to lose their job . And
there are NOT going to lay any offs in Wisconsin.

They need to get their story straight then. That is not what
they told the WEDC.
They have "no plans" to lay anyone off, but will only agree to
retain about half their workforce?
And will be allowed to lay off up to 50% without having to
return the money.
The WEDC memo from earlier this year, however, described
the company being concerned about retaining all of its jobs
because of rising health insurance costs and the possibility of
automation. It said the company would agree to retain 70 percent
of current job levels in 2014, 60 percent in 2015 and 50 percent
in 2016-18. If employment levels fall below those percentages,
the company would have to return the money.
