I see Rayome the union puppet has once again represented union
workers and not the cities property owners.
Now Biron's resident s will get help for their cities tax base
from Aspirus.
Biron property owners win..... Rapids property owners lose.
This is the clown that wants to be a Sate legislator.
He will do far more damage to tax payers in that position then
he does now.
Remember that on election day.

So, Snickers...you are telling me that there are no union
employees at Asspirus?
Tom Rayome impressed me tonight. He stood up for the hospital
that has provided health care for this city for 100 years.
Read the article again.
Rayome's concerns were for the workers.
That was HIS statement.
He put the workers who are unionized over the Cities tax payers.
Plain and simple.

Newsflash....a good percentage of the workers are not union!
And aren't these same workers also taxpayers?
Riverview Hospital Association is the second biggest employer in
Rapids. Meaning they employ the second largest group of
TAXPAYERS. Why would the city council vote to screw them over?
The Biron property tax payers win.
The Rapid property tax payers lose.
Another Rayome has stuck again.
If it isn't Tom.
It's his wife on the School Board.
They are both union puppets.

This is just nuts! So now Rapids will have an empty building on
the 54 corridor. Bravo bravo bravo. Welcome to the the city of
NO!

Meh.... we'll just plant flowers in it. It'll look better than
those cement coffins.
Did they say they'll vacate that building? I (assumed) they'd
just build a second building in Biron and keep the current one
as-is for the clinic.

I don't think they said one way or the other .... as of yet. I'm
sure they are seriously considering leaving and just build one
complex to house both in Biron with the way the planning commish
and now the council has treated them. I don't think many people
understand just how much money Aspirus was feeding into rv. I'm
sure those funds will now be with held.

My disclaimer first, I'm not a fan of Aspirus, never have been.
Riverview Medical Center isn’t afraid of competition,
said Celse Berard, Riverview president. However, a community the
size of Wisconsin Rapids won’t support two vibrant hospitals. He
questioned whether the community would benefit from two weakened
hospitals competing against each other.
This is exactly the argument that Aspirus used against Ministry
when they wanted to build a second hospital here. When it all
shook out, the community is better served by having two
hospitals. When all is said and done, only a fraction of the
patients in the hospital are from the "community". A larger
fraction are from outside the community and there are a lot of
smaller communities around Rapids to support another hospital.
Secondly, I don't think it's the city council's job to pick
winners and losers. This is what they're doing. Killing the
competition to assure Riverview remains a winner. All they did
was shoot themselves in the foot. Do they seriously think that
Aspirus building a facility out in Biron that this is going to
have any less impact on Riverview than it would have on Peach
St? Rapids, you lose. Jobs and tax dollars, meanwhile the
project that could have brought more jobs and many more tax
dollars to your city is gone.

Have some of you you looked into this at all? Have you talked to
anyone who's actually IN the medical profession? I'm thinking
not, based on your statements. Competition is good for Kmart and
Walmart...it's NOT good for professional medical services. There
will be no SALES, or DISCOUNTS or the like...it's a duplication
of services that is UNNECESSARY. There are no NEW JOBS. Any
jobs gained at Aspirus would be lost at Riverview.
When Point and Marshfield are so close, why would anyone want to
look for a SECOND hospital in Rapids? With the same services!
To respond to a few of your points, I only compared
what's going on down there to what already happened here, and
the end result was for the better for the community and all the
communities in the are. You saying Point has a hospital is
funny. If you look at the services Point offers, they're
nothing more than a band aid station. Competition is good, it's
also good for the job market. There will be more jobs created.
For example, a building doesn't maintain or clean itself, it
needs manpower for upkeep. Then there's always the tax dollars
lost by Rapids. We aren't talking just a few dollars either. I
find myself asking you a question now. What right does the city
council have to pick winners and losers?
