       Perry lawsuit

Use your veto pen, get sued on felony charges. Only in America
will a politician get sued for doing what he threatened to do,
Vetoing a bill. Democrats will do anything to smear a possible
       Hillary challenger.

The idea that its a Democrat attack to smear a potential
challenger is pure speculation, and probable projection. Perry
isn't much of a serious challenge. Even with his hipster
glasses, he's lost credibility since hilariously blowing the
2012 primary and the series of mismanaged disasters in his
state. The dude is all hat.
The case itself might have technical merit. It should be
interesting to see how it plays out.

Lets see a convicted drunk driver running the Public Integrity
Unit. Yeah, sure, I can see the "technical merit". Well at
least MSNBC will have fodder to run with for a few weeks like
they did with bridgegate. We've all seen how that played out.
Christie lost points but was found innocent of any wrongdoing.

Linda, google it. The information is out there. Perry issued a
veto, well within the scope of his responsibility and in fact is
expected of him. Picking and choosing which laws to enforce and
dramatically changing legislation as has been done with Obama
care isn't. However IMO neither suit will go anywhere.

anyways...speculation and projection aside, it's going to be
interesting to see where this goes.
The question: Is it okay for a Governor to issue a veto against
a bill funding an state office solely for the purpose of forcing
an individual within that office to retire?

He has the power of the veto pen. The reasoning behind it plays
no role. In this case though, I agree with him.

I see....so you are saying that if an executive has a power,
he/she should be able to use that power however they see fit
       without legal repercussion?

The governor of any state has the power of the veto. That's the
law. If you don't agree with the way they use it, recall them
or vote them out. It's the American way. If you wish to talk
about abuse of power, look at the video attached to the link
below. Perry lacks faith in her ability to do her job. He has
a solid reason to deny funding. There is nothing illegal about
it. That happens to be his job. Congress has that same power
and has used it in the past without being sued.

I get what you are saying, but I still think that Perry's
method, to veto funds to the entire office just to get at a
single person he didn't want in office, might be considered
       abuse of power.
       Might.
No idea what the legal definition of abuse of power is in
       Texas.
