The Non- Deserter Agreement can be considered a Berlin Wall.
While I agree we need to find ways to keep companies here, this
way is just plain scary. We need to get the tax liability
lowered on these businesses. Sure some of you will argue that it
will hurt the funding of programs which will hurt the poor of
this country but I am reminded of an old saying, "Don't bite the
hand that feeds you"( businesses that employ us).
What are your thoughts on this NDA issue?

Don't take advantage of all the US has to offer and then skip
out on paying for your part of it. I don't like the US being
       stolen from.
This is a stable, safe, well-protected country that has a
developed legal system, strong intellectual property laws,
well-educated workforce and fairly predictable tax,
environmental and workplace laws. That all comes at a certain
cost. If you want cheap, go to China where you have few to
none of those protections. Chinese patent protection for
       example- is non-existent.
We could discuss what a fair tax rate is and sure, in some cases
it's too high. In others it's too low. That problem does need
       some work.
Hey Steve, what do you think about Minnesota's proposed "Bad
Boss" law? Where the state bills low-wage employers for the
cost of social services the state has to provide to their
       employees?
Instead of the taxpayers subsidizing low wages, those who pay
low wages foot the bill. Is that fair?

It's the job of any CEO to find the biggest return to it's
investors. That is the American way. Blaming the companies for
their reaction to an action is the wrong way to go. You fix the
action causing the reaction, not the other way around. Having
the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world
discourages growth. Fix the loopholes, decrease the tax rate,
then you'll see companies actually staying here and bringing
back more of the funds they have stashed overseas. Punishing
companies for simply looking at the best ways to increase their
bottom line just seems so unamerican.

I whole heartedly disapprove of such a law! Why should the
employer suffer since the employee ( I know I'm gonna get
attacked for this) is to preoccupied with various things( I
know, you thought I was going to say lazy ;) ) to go find a
better paying job or position with current employer. I just went
through a phone interview with Home Depot and the questioning
was laughable at best. The three top questions:
       1) Are you willing to work nights and weekends?
       2) If fellow employees are not doing what is expected of them,
what would you do? a) tell management b) do the work yourself
c)Yell at them to get busy D) join them
       3) Give me an example of going above and beyond with customer
       service.
Do you see why most employers start people at minimum wage? The
first question-- why SHOULD an employer work around someones
schedule of horse shoes on Monday, Volleyball on Tuesday,
bowling on Wednesday and soccer on the weekends? Question 2---
If a task is assigned, it NEEDS to be done. Management does
notice who works and who does not when it comes down to
advancement. Question 3---- TRICK QUESTION!!!!!!! There is NO
SUCH THING as "above and beyond" when it comes to customer
       service!
My current employer who I have been there going on a year now(
only two to three days per week) is in the process of training
me for a full time assistant mgr position. How did that happen?
I do my job without complaining, I do it to the best of my
ability and I take PRIDE in what I do even though it is MIN
WAGE. BTW: I do not get any "entitlements"!

       Good luck with HD!
Working hard and getting a better paying job does not make the
low-paying jobs go away. They are filled by the person who
replaces you when you move up. And no matter how you slice it,
those low-paying jobs cost the taxpayers money.

There is really very little correlation between corp. tax rates
and growth. During our most prosperous years we had both
extremely high taxes and robust growth.
  HTML http://www.epi.org/publication/ib364-corporate-tax-rates-and-economic-growth/
Cutting personal income taxes on the middle class has a far
larger effect on growth than cutting corporate taxes. Some of
our largest corporations have a negative federal tax rate.
Yet they don't expand here...they take our money and expand in
China. (like GE Health Systems). That needs to be stopped.
Another big growth-killer is a low cap. gains tax rate. It
encourages money to be pulled out of a company instead of
reinvested. It's part of the reason it's so financially
attractive to cut, strip and downsize.

Just folk tryin to build a tax wall to keep folk in, gotta
secure those borders. We have to compete with the world and
that includes taxes. Some call the wall corporate patriotism,
tax loopholes on our side and sound taxation policy on the
winners side. These ain't all tiny islands countries giving
sweet tax deals to former U.S. companies
       Transocean to Switzerland, 2008
Ensco plc to the United Kingdom, 2009
       Eaton Corporation to Ireland, 2012
       Actavis to Ireland, 2013
Liberty Global to the United Kingdom, 2013
       Chiquita to Ireland, 2014 (pending)
Applied Materials to the Netherlands, 2014 (pending)
       Abbvie to Ireland, 2014 (pending)
       Medtronic to Ireland, 2014 (pending)
Mylan to the Netherlands, 2014 (pending
These multinational corporations are deciding they can get a
better deal even in countries considered by most to be high tax
countries. If our English and Nordic friends win by keeping tax
rates 1/2 percent below ours, good for them, half percent of a
coupla hundred billion is real money. Kinda funny, nobody had a
problem when American Honda was formed in this country to
       partially to escape Japanese taxes.

The Difference is that American Honda also built production
facilities over here and employs American workers. Honda pays
US taxes on US revenues and Japanese taxes on Japanese revenues.

That's different than setting up a corporate mail drop overseas
       to avoid US taxes.
I agree that competition is what it is. I also think there are
advantages to doing business in the USA that offset a 1/2 %
higher tax rate. Taking advantage of what our country offers
without paying the tax that funds those advantages is the
       problem.
