74 school shootings since........ Well maybe not really

I have seen this figure all over the news even the president
said it. Well it's true depending on how you define a school
shooting. Oh yeah and you need to include at least one
stabbing, and then you include someone not shot on school
property but ran and collapsed on school property. The Real
number of "school shootings" is 15. Not that I am not dismissing
that number as it is 15 to many, but I find it disingenuous of
the president to need to lie and fluff the real number, but then
he is once again showing what he is made of.

It would make sense to only count the incidents that involved a
shooter + a school.

This interested me so I actually read the article and a couple
more, lol.
Oddly enough it was CNN that whittled the number down to 15.

The 74 count tracks back to a gun control group's site, here:

The difference between the numbers seems to be that CNN excludes
incidents that were not "like Newtown", such as drug deals,
personal vendettas and gang shootings while Everytown includes
them.
They all seem to include a gun being discharged inside a school
in some fashion. I guess whether "like Newtown" is an important
consideration is once again going to fall right on party lines.
74 firearm discharges inside schools.
58 incidents with injuries,
21 incidents with one or more deaths not counting suicides.
15 events "like Newtown"
Pick your number. Anyone using a different number is
apparently a liar.

Rapids I think you got a few facts wrong, when you say 74
shootings inside a school the number includes inside and on a
school grounds. Including universities It also includes suicide
and suicide attempts (17) So for instance the man who parked in
the Algona HS parking lot in the middle of the night and shot
himself, by the presidents definition is a school shooting. All
you have to do is start going thru the Every towns list and
cross referencing with the stories in the news.

Going thru Everytowns list. The second in incident they list
happened at Chicago State Univ in a parking lot at 9:30 at
night. Shots were fired after a fight broke out after a
basketball game. Not to diminish it but it was a gang related
shooting.
