Judge Overturns Wisconsin's Gay Marriage Ban
By: Jeepers Date: June 7, 2014, 12:56 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I have no problem with same sex marriages being legal as long as
churches aren't forced to perform same sex weddings.
My question is more about judges. Just how much power do judges
have to overturn or block things that a state votes on or laws a
state wants to pass? For example: Same sex marriages, legalizing
pot, voter ID, illegal immigration, concealed carry, etc.

Most judges today feel the need to legislate from the bench. Its
a sad sad world we live in.

Gay people wouldn't want to be married in any church that didn't
want them, so that question is moot.
Finally, a GOOD day in Wisconsin. Marriage rights for EVERYONE.

I beg to differ. Gay people want to force those to make cakes
for them that don't want to, so what is the difference?

Oh, please. I heard that story. No self-respecting gay couple
would want a wedding cake from a freakin' GROCERY STORE. ;D

There's the straw man fallacy again. I would much rather get a
cake from a grocery store than somebody who doesn't want to make
one for me, wouldn't you?

Those Judges are political activists.

Predicable, whenever a judge rules against a conservative cause,
they cry judicial activism. Way to be on the wrong side of
history, bigots.

You keep using that phrase. You really need to google it.
Honestly though, I think the couple in question baited the bigot
baker, and the fool fell for it.

Read my post again.
I never said anything about gay marriages or what I may think
about them.
I only gave an opinion on those kinds of Judges. So don't try
to label me as a bigot.

Snickers, I've known you long enough to be able to label you
that for many, many other reasons besides this latest tidbit.
As for crying "judicial activism" every time a ruling doesn't go
your way, modern conservatives have a long history of that kind
of baseless whining when the laws they like are found to be
unconstitutional and discriminating. I'm sure the
Snickers-type people of old found the Brown vs Board of
Education ruling to be "judicial activism" as well.
This was a ruling on weather or not banning gay marriage was
constitutional.
Its not.

Justify your labeling me as being bigot.
Provide proof of it.
Without that it is nothing but an offensive personal attack.
FT why are you such an angry person?

The story I heard was it was a grocery store bakery that
wouldn't do the cake...
Whoever it was, suing was not the answer. I think the bad
publicity the baker got probably cost him a lot of business.
[/quote]
I may be a little old fashioned, but I believe a business should
have a right to do business with whomever they want. To have
the courts rule otherwise IMO is a violation of the business's
rights. If you choose to exclude enough people you go out of
business. It should be considered a business decision.
