Uncovering the coverup of the benghazi coverup
By: trollslayer Date: April 29, 2014, 11:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The steady drip drip drip of information showing the Obama
administration invented the talking points memo about Benghazi
continues. More information about the cover up has been
obtained by Judicial Watch. It should be noted that the email
in question has been previously released but was so heavily
redacted that it was unusable. Thanks to the courts we now know
what was redacted.
[quote]Judicial Watch found — after sifting through documents
that were requested from the Department of State on June 21,
2013 — an email from Ben Rhodes, then-White House deputy
strategic communications adviser, that showed he joined with
others to devise a public relations campaign to “reinforce” Mr.
Obama’s statements that an anti-Islam video spurred the attacks.
The main point of the White House team’s strategy was to paint
the terrorist attack as being “rooted in an Internet video and
not a failure of policy,” Judicial Watch said in an emailed
release. Meanwhile, the State Department — at the same time that
message was being shaped — initially considered the incident
simply an “attack,” and perhaps even a kidnap try, the watchdog
said.
The email from Mr. Rhodes, dated Sept. 14, 2012, read in part:
“Goal: … To underscore that these protests are rooted in [an]
Internet video and not a broader failure or policy.”
Mr. Rhodes also went on, Judicial Watch reported: “[W]e’ve made
our views on this video crystal clear. The United States
government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and
its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there
is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this
movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people
around the globe hear that message.”
In the email, Mr. Rhodes also advises key White House and
administration officials to make sure they presented Mr. Obama
as “steady and statesmanlike” whenever speaking of the crisis.
Another “goal,” he said, in his email, was to “reinforce the
president and administration’s strength and steadiness in
dealing with difficult challenges,” Judicial Watch reported.
The recipients of the email included White House press secretary
Jay Carney and then-White House Communications Director Dan
Pfeiffer, along with several others, Judicial Watch said.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the latest email only
proves that the White House’s main concern in the wake of the
Benghazi attack that left four Americans dead was image — more
than truth.

Doesn't everyone think of Obama as "Steady and Statesmanlike"
anyway? :)

The term "weasley" comes to mind to tell you the truth. In
Carney's presser today he tried to say that the email wasn't
about Benghazi. The foi request asked for Benghazi documents,
this email was presented, now it's not about Benghazi. The
problem with lying is keeping all your lies straight. It seems
they're having a problem keeping their story straight.

It's like you never left. You're still ignoring the obvious
cover up. Fortunately you're part of an ever shrinking
minority. Instead of the dead horse it would probably be more
appropriate if you put up the pictures of the four dead
Americans. This is what the coverup is about. I know your type
likes to divert from the topic at hand.

I don't think he is. Despite the nonstop Republican Outrage, I
think most of us are just plain old sick and tired of hearing
about it.
Why? Because it's nothing new, it's not surprising and nothing
will come of it anyway.
Obama's a liar? Big news. We're used to it. Just like Mr
"secret network" Walker tells lies, and Mr. "WMD" Bush and his
entire lying cabinet lied, and Clinton "I never" lied before
him...and there's nothing going on with the Iran Contras, and
we didn't bomb Cambodia today... and so on ...
The other side makes a big deal of it hoping for political gain.
Period. If the real interest were in cleaning up government,
we'd stop replacing liars of one party with liars of the other
party. But we both know that isn't gonna happen.

Everybody knows that lies happen on each side. Does that mean
we should just ignore it and move on? If you're tired of
hearing about it perhaps the Obama administration should just
lay it all pit so that the truth is known. Or should we just
chalk up the death of four Americans to just another lie.
The election of this president has been based on lie after lie.
If you like your plan, insurance, doctor.
Benghazi was caused by an internet video
Just to name a few.

Anyone made to answer for the thousands of Americans who died
based on a WMD's lie? No. Everyone demanding justice and truth
now just sat back and defended the lies back then. And those
outraged back then are predictably silent now.
Either do something about the liars in government, including
those in your own party, not just the opposition, or get used
to the partisan outrage being ignored. The
Only-when-it's-the-other-side game is old, tired and
transparent and doesn't change anything.

Just a couple of comments on the above statement. The whole WMD
thing was based on faulty intelligence. No, everyone was not
sitting back being silent. Many thought we shouldn't have gone,
many thought we should based on the faulty intelligence on both
sides of the aisle. Both sides are guilty in that case.
In Benghazi, the political coverup that occurred after the
incident was based strictly on lies with the sole purpose of
getting Obama re-elected. There is a big difference there.
There are those who keep trying to say that this story is over,
nothing more to see and time to move on. That will be the case
when the administration finally comes clean and answers the many
questions it has been refusing to answer. If anyone has any
doubt there's a cover up all you have to do is watch Carney's
mid day carnival. Even the NYT has this guy pegged for a liar.
OTOH, the republicans have bungled the investigation, all in the
name of political gain. A special prosecutor should have been
appointed well over a year ago. Then this would be closed by
now.
Finally, I have to laugh at Hillary, giving an interview a few
weeks back, trying to sound so humble and apologetic saying
Benghazi was the worse moment of her tenure at State. Almost
believable until you find yourself remembering the "what
difference does it make at this point in time" rant.
