I don't own a dog so there isn't any poop in my yard but I do
feed the birds. Does this mean I would have to follow behind
them and clean up after them daily or be fined? How long can
grass grow before it's considered too long? How does cutting
your grass and cleaning up animal poo reduce drug houses? Are
the owners of these houses going to cut their grass before they
open for business?

I won't waste any of my time explaining this to you, just have
you not understand and just claim it is wrong. Giuliani used it
successfully to clean up NYC when he was mayor.

I don't know. The Dipstick-Who-Lives-Next-Door is very
particular about his yard. He put up a security fence in a
respectable residential area that does not have that sort of
fence. He has signs hanging on his fence that say, "Protected by
Security Alarm."
So did he improve his property or did he create an attractive
nuisance? Pretend that you are a bad kid. Wouldn't you just love
the challenge to see what he has that could be worth so much?

Good. I wish they'd do that here. Might stop my neighbor from
piling up two month's worth of trash next to their garage
instead of putting it to the curb.
They get a warning, clean it up, then do it again next month. A
fine or two might drive the point home a little better.
It would be nice if everyone took reasonable care of their place
without the city stepping in, but unfortunately some people are
slobs.

I used to put my recyclables out to the curb every two weeks,
unfortunately the recycle guy makes a huge mess that I have to
clean up every time. I now save them up and over load him every
other month! ;)
He is catching on quite slowly.

Sorry, I don't think the city should step in if your grass is
too long or if you have dog poo in your yard. I can see the
basis of your complaint but Wausau isn't a neighborhood block or
anything like that. There are far more serious thing to enforce
than the length of someone grass. Drugs are a huge concern.

Run down houses and long grass bring down the neighbors house
values.
Try selling a house near those places.
People should be expected to keep they're places looking half
way decent.
Garbage piles attract rats and long grass hold some pretty nasty
biting insects.
Dog crap falls into the category of health issues.

It seems like Wausau is getting anti-pet. No cats at Marathon
Humane Society and cracking down on dogs. Only rusty birds on
the road way will do. That sucks.

The Humane society i again taking cats. At least for the next
year. Even better news is Wausau has declined to plant birds
all the way out Stewart Ave to the 29 interchange at a cost of
$225,000. It seems some law were violated in the bidding
process (along with forgetting to plan for watering pipe etc)
and this left a bad taste in the councils mouths and they don't
wish to do it again. Things I guess are looking up.
