"In The Arms of The Angel” / Sarah McLachlin
Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you
fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
In the arms of the Angel far away from here
From this dark cold hotel room and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here
You're in the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here

Could you explain Victoria what do you mean. I see very much me
and almost anybody I know reflected in this song,... I
undesrtand it as the journey in our fears and addictions, hoping
an angel will help us to fly away from there... But that's an
impossibility.

Of course interpretation is personal. I see the line about
relief and the veins about cutting or injecting drugs 'the
angel' is the feeling of the drugs or the pain

I always loved that song. I re read the words after Victoria's
comment and could see how it could be about self harm so I
googled it, seems it was written about heroin addiction. Never
occurred to me all the times I've listened to it, shows really
how our "interpretation" is filtered through our emotions and
addictions. I feel though, it doesn't matter, one line can be
the perfect trigger for feeling.

O yes, I see. It is definitely about drug addiction, the release
being assimilated to be in the arms of an angel... while she is
probably in the arm of quite dark spirits. But I understand
better why I like it from a loa perspective. This is what we do
all the time when we want to avoid feeling our pain, is it not
the case? It might not be drug, but then it is food or sex or
internet or whatever alternative "feel good" emotional feeling
we are addicted to. Would be great to have it adapted in harmony
with Love and Truth though. Thanks Victoria.
