Something To Ask Wrestlers

So I just had a thought while replying to another thread:
This is something that I think we need to artfully and subtly
figure out how to ask former CHIKARA performers for those of us
going to Wrestling Is... shows or other shows with former
CHIKARA talent. I don't think, by the nature of the question,
that it could fit on twitter, and in person, they can't
necessarily just ignore it.
Basically the question is: "Why do you believe or what were you
told at Aniversario that makes you think CHIKARA is closed?"
Now that's a much more complicated question than it seems which
is why I'm asking you guys to help re-word it.
I was thinking that there's this big plot-hole regarding the
period between the end of Aniversario and the wrestlers starting
to tweet #chikaramemories. So here's what we saw:
-Aniversario main event broken-up by Condor Security and the set
is torn down. Some conflicting reports say Jig and Shard were
seen covering their faces with towels and other reports say
Quack may have been spotted briefly after the curtain hiding
backstage was torn down.
-Bryce leaves the Troc still in his ref uniform in tears and
reportedly carrying a box of his belongings. The imagery
suggesting he was fired.
-Billy Kumo reportedly told fans outside the Troc that he was
"out of a job."
-Sometime later (a day or two? The earliest tweet I can load on
my phone from a wrestler with the #chikaramemories hashtag is
from The Batiri on June 4th.) CHIKARA wrestlers begin tweeting
memories of CHIKARA.
Between the ambiguous ending of Aniversario, I think, is where
the plot-hole lies. There HAD to have been some sort of
"meeting" where Wink/Condor/someone told the performers after
the end of the show that the company would be closing. Otherwise
we're being asked to believe that Bryce saw a bunch of Condor
guys come out, interrupt a main event and drag the competitors
and the ref backstage while destroying the set and kicking the
audience out, and then went "Well, I guess the company is closed
forever and I'm fired." Someone HAD to have told Bryce he had
been fired. I think it's important to know who.
Same with the wrestlers, they saw a bunch of security guys show
up 10-15 minutes into the main event (I mean kayfabe-wise. I
realize they were mostly Factory trainees and the ring crew)
break-up the match and drag everybody backstage, then they knock
down the curtain apparently exposing the identities of a couple
of masked wrestlers. And then two days later they were
misty-eyed and nostalgic and (pointedly) not at all bitter about
the way things ended. Again, there had to something immediately
after Aniversario where they were informed about CHIKARA's
closure, no sane person would assume, with zero other context
that the ending of Aniversario constituted to complete ending of
a wrestling promotion.
We need to find out why all the wrestlers are saying CHIKARA is
done, who exactly told them that, and why they all (except
Icarus and Billy) seem to have accepted it without anger or
bitterness or even questioned it.
(It is vital that if any of us have the chance to ask this that
we not do it in a cornering, aggressive style ala TMZ. But this
strikes me as pretty glaring and obvious and it might have
overlooked in our zeal over the "cooler" aspects of this
involving the Eye of Tyr and time travel.)

yeah, sometimes the glaringly obvious route goes right over our
heads, haha. (i.e. nobody asking Fire Ant and Green Ant what was
going on in the "the hunt is on" Vine clip until I did it 2 days
ago - no answer from either of them, for the record)

when i chatted with billy briefly at the july 20th icarus thing
he expressed mild consternation at the amount of questions about
chikara he had been hit with at an improv show the night before.
i believe his exact words were "you could not believe the amount
of questions i was getting hammered with last night". keep in
mind i had asked him nothing but this was his response to my
making a joke about icarus pretty much literally running away
after handing out the shirts. my point is i imagine most anyone
in relation to chikara has probably been questioned to to point
of frustration at their every appearance. while directly asking
can not hurt per say i would hazard a guess there is not much we
could ask that has not been asked and likely asking would be
fruitless which is why i have avoided it thus far. i admit i
almost breached the subject while talking to amasis at the last
fun show but did not want to taint the conversation. hey we are
having a nice chat about wu-tang but what is going on with
chikara? considering i will be there tomorrow(well today but
anyway) with my "i am chikara" shirt on that he did point out at
the cool showing getting babs, my wife and i all directly on
camera i might have an icebreaker to breach the subject. if i
can i will.

^^^ This is one of the reasons I won't ask anyone directly about
what's happening. I know a good number of people on a personal
level and I won't even broach the subject with them because I
still want to just play along and watch things unfold. I enjoy
discussing theories and everything with the fans here and
elsewhere, but I feel like asking any of the wrestlers
(regardless of knowing them personally or not) is frustrating
for them and forcing them to have to be evasive. Doing the
little things like wearing our "I Am Chikara" shirts at shows
and seeing Amasis react to them and say "That's who we are!" is
an easy way to get some answers regarding how they feel. We all
know that anyone who knows anything (and many of the talent
really DON'T know what the story is) is never going to break
kayfabe and are simply going to evade questions or give short
answers like "you saw what happened June 2nd".
I'm not saying anyone who wants to ask questions ought not to,
just that speaking for myself, I don't feel right doing it.

As wrestlers, we should always be prepared for the hard
questions, no matter what happens. Besides, I bet I already
know the answer to the worded question you want to ask, and it's
the easiest cop out answer.
