Well, Dasher made an appearance on 101 saying the 30 days were
up (time on the NDA?), so maybe that's a sign that things will
pick up.
Personally, my guess at this point is
* Despite the increased popularity of Chikara, it has hit a
significant financial hiccup. The storyline at the end of Never
Compromise can go either way. If the financial situation is not
resolved, then Chikara ends and they gave the fans a reason
(albeit a very disappointing one). On the other hand, if the
financial situation is fixed, they can come back fairly quickly
after the resolution and continue a story. My guess is that
they hoped to have it resolved by now, but it just isn't
happening fast.
* What could have caused the hiccup? It could have been that
someone behind the scenes was pumping money in and pulled out
quickly. The speculation of the divorce is possible, but it
easily could have been another investor that was hoping for
something bigger to materialize and/or had his/her own financial
problems and had to pull out. What might be consistent with
that is that the TTGP wasn't necessarily very special (they had
the Bucks totally carry the load, which, of course, was a good
idea because I didn't bore of the Bucks through 1 hour of
wrestling). That brings into question the oddness of some of
the travel choices (two southern trips to begin the year?). If
the company was having financial trouble, why not just stick to
areas with good attendance (Philly, NJ, NY, Chicago) instead of
trying to set up shows in a lot of new places.
* Does this product have no value? I'd be interested in the
books for the company as a whole. You can't tell me that given
the fanbase and some strong markets that someone couldn't make
some money off of Chikara. Even if you narrowed it to 8-10
shows a year (say, Chicago, Philly, NY, Easton and NJ), you
could still create a compelling product with the Chikara
wrestlers. This is the part I don't get and it suggests to me a
re-structuring is taking place in an ill-defined time frame,
which is why posts still get deleted at 101 and there are slight
subtle hints that Chikara is not dead (yes, I'm sure Anton Fridy
is real).
That said, I wish it would get resolved or I'll need new hobbies
to spend idle time.
Oh and Canegima said we don't have to be kayfabe here, so I hope
this is ok. I like kayfabe and find wrestling more entertaining
with it in place, but I'll save that for 101.

The Dasher farewell on 101 concerns me. It felt like he had to
wait until 7/1 to say anything. I kind of felt it was his plug
to get people to say goodbye to Chikara and start looking
towards Wrestling Is Fun. I'm still thinking chikara as we know
it is over. The new focus will be whatever Wrestling Is becomes.
Given Quack's history and backstage behavior, I see him as a
very unpredictable person. I wouldn't mind the idea of a "reset"
to the "universe" similar to what DC comics did. But we'll see.
You can't keep people waiting and stay silent for too long and
expect them to remain loyal.

it is funny you say that because my simple theory is that has
been his goal. to push us into the wrestling is stuff (which
based on the crowds at the shows is not working). now whether
that be because of some behind the scenes drama related to his
personal life or that he wanted to pull back on chikara for
whatever reason the bottom line is this all goes back to quack.
which is the real reason i suspect all the smoke and mirrors
nonsense. there is no "payoff" for this "storyline" because that
is not the point of it. think about it. what could the end game
be to justify all this? its all about him. all about his ego. he
could careless how it effects chikaras fans. he could careless
how it effects chikara wrestlers. it has always been about quack
and in the end he set in motion his epically overblown
lost/watchmen mash-up to end chikara and move on to something
else. because he is quack and he can.

Yeah, I don't know anything about Quack and would like to assume
the best. It doesn't have to be anything nefarious to force
this situation. It could be one of countless financial issues.
My guess is that Quack is trying to hold onto the company, but
hasn't the financial backing to get it going again and this may
drag out for a while. I don't he's doing it in any sort of "I'm
such a genius, I can pull off the biggest wrestling swerve
ever."

if you take the time to see what people that have worked with
him have to say about him you might not be surprised at all.

I joke to myself that the ending of Chikara is Quack's revenge.
He was mad that none of us solved Mysterium which he put A LOT
of work into and so he created this "final puzzle" as a giant
middle finger to all of us lol. It's just a joke but sometimes
part of me feels like it could be true lol

Reading the "My Memories" thread over on 101 is sad. Every post
feels like a goodbye to Chikara.
Donst broke my heart when he said: "This past weekend I applied
one of the most lethal holds I know "The CHIKARA Special" to
Derrick Bateman at AIW's Absolution. I wanted to make him
submit, to tapout, but most importantly I locked it on as a
tribute to the company that I hold so dear. But sadly it didn't
work. The magic is gone."
I still want answers though - there are way too many unanswered
questions. I think we all deserve to know and have some kind of
closure.

even though I believe it's over. There are still people (smart
people) who think Chikara will return. Regardless of which side
you are on, I think it's pretty safe to say that we will in fact
have to wait until the end of the year to get any answers. Good
or bad. Once the "deal" with SMV ends. Perhaps we will have a
much better idea of what happened.
At this point, I'm done. I was waiting for a sale to buy the
wrestlecon show as well as the one or two shows after that
(before the ippv). But now, I don't see myself wanting to buy
them. That's sad. I have just about every Chikara show on DVD. A
massive library. But I just lost the desire to get the last few
shows. Maybe closer to 2014 I will break down and buy them but
I'm ready to look for something else. Looks like for the time
being, WiF! will be next. I'm just conflicted because I know
there has to be some financial ties between the various
Wrestling is and Chikara and part of me hates supporting them
after what they did at the ippv and how they have behaved since
then. The OCD micro-managing of the 101 board is annoying.
But I just enjoy the amazing work from the talent involved so I
can't resist.
