A man discovered the victim's skeletal remains located in an
old, abandoned refrigerator in a secluded rural area on Road
610, 3.5 miles off of Exit 56 (Red Rocks Road), 3 miles
northwest of Walsenburg, in the general vicinity of I-25.
The discovery came about when the Huerfano County Sheriff's
Office received a letter dated August 10, 1999, from a man in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the letter he stated that he came
upon the remains while walking through the area three weeks
before. A deputy was then dispatched to the scene.

Circumstances of Recovery
These remains were found by a man in the general vicinity of
1-25 (north of Walsenburg) and Red Rocks Rd. The man found a
refrigerator lying on its side with the door partly open with
what appeared to be skeletal remains. After further
investigation, law enforcement located a scapula and jaw as well
as additional bone fragments within 100 feet of the
refrigerator. The trash in the refrigerator was dated 1988-1992.

According to a forensic anthropologist analysis the body showed
evidence that she might have been pregnant at least 1 time and
had 1 healed broken left rib and extensive dental work.

size is extra large, (approximately a 36 C or D cup).
3. Blue jeans, cuffs rolled up two times (5 inches), made by
"Wrangler", size 34x34, half zipped with the top button secured,
leather "Wrangler" patch on back , small metal clip on left side
belt loop( similar to a small money clip), not extremely faded,
in good condition. No Belt.
No Panties.
4. Red, mens, thermal long underwear bottoms (long johns),
"Winston" cigarette logo, on the back left side, approximately
28 inch waist and 22 inch inseam.
5. White or tan athletic-type socks (no identifying markings).
6. Black or dark brown well worn, ladies sandals, Made in ITALY,
leather straps and double buckles (one above ankle, one below),
rubber sole, suede leather foot pads, 10 inches long, 4 inches

The refrigerator was a Philco brand, model unknown, but possibly
a 1940s to 1960s model. It had a lever handle and was a single
door unit.

Jane Doe's remains were discovered in an old, abandoned
refrigerator on road 610 in a secluded part of Huerfano County,
Colorado on August 10th, 1999. The report was made via a letter
in which a man reported stumbling across Jane's remains three
weeks prior. Jane's remains were skeletonized and she was found
with garbage dated between 1988 and 1992. The model of the
refrigerator was older, dating back between the 1940's and
1960's.Jane is thought to have been between the ages of 35 and
45 when she died and between 5'9 and 6'0 tall. She had
shoulder-length brown hair that was described as "well cared
for." She had a healed broken left rib and may be a mother to at
least one child. She wore a light-colored sleeveless crop top,
red men's thermal underwear, knee-high athletic socks, black or
dark brown sandals with double straps and buckles, and a copper
or rust-colored bracele with the letter "C" on the front.
Information regarding her cause of death has not been made
public and Jane remains unidentified. DNA and dental information
are available for this decedent.
