The victim's partial skeletal remains were found wrapped in a
6-by-8-foot green tarp secured by 72 feet of rope and buried on
private property 40 feet from the Coosa River at 308 Galdis
Road. The landowner, who has rarely visited the property since
1991, found the remains while gardening. There was evidence that
lime had been placed around the burial site to mask the smell.

Jane Doe was between the ages of 30 and 40 when she was found
wrapped in a tarp and buried in a shallow grave on private
property in Titus, Alabama on July 22nd, 2007. The landowner,
who rarely visited the property since 1991, was gardening when
they discovered the remains. Only a partial skeleton was found
and so Jane's height and weight could not be estimated. The body
was covered with lime to cover the smell. No clothing or other
identifying information could be gleaned from the remains.
Authorities were not even able to determine whether her remains
were male or female until 2009. Forensic analysis showed that
Jane suffered a violent death with broken ribs, facial bones,
and a head injury. The closest police could come to a date of
death was between 2002 and 2007. Authorities believe that Jane
Doe was not local to the area.
Description: Jane Doe had long brown hair. No other descriptive
       information is available.
Tribal information: Elmore County Jane doe is described as being
bi-racial, likely of Hispanic or Native American descent.
If you have any information regarding the murder or identity of
Elmore County Jane Doe, you are encouraged to contact the Elmore
       County Sheriff's Department at 334-514-5805.
