A Sudden Change of Mind

Having followed Manux with Shadow in his arms, Gabriel had
decided to find a place to leave Shadow before going off on his
own. He found a tree and left the black hedgehog there and went
to walk away but stepped on twigs that made a snap loud enough
to wake anyone. The bat froze, hoping Shadow would remain out
like a light.

Welp.
Shadow had apparently heard the noise, as he began to stir in
his passed-out sleep, frowning slightly in his sleep as he felt
leaves. The black-and-crimson hedgehog, as he woke up slower
than a snail could crawl, felt as if his head was against
something wood-like, as he tried to ignore a sudden pain in his
forehead that had been struck by Mirrors putting him against the
tree.
Wait a second... Shadow thought, before his eyes snapped open
to see a frozen Mirrors somewhere near him. Granted, he felt a
tad bit too exhausted to move at the moment, but his crimson
eyes simply glanced at Mirrors, as if he'd suspected Mirrors may
have brought him here to leave him alone..

Gabriel was silent as he opened his wings, the bandages on the
one falling to the ground. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"Good bye Agent Shadow, we shant meet again," he sighed as he
was about to take off into the night.

A very confused look came upon Shadow as the black-and-crimson
hedgehog asked, "Why are you leaving?"

"I'm a Society Agent, that's all you need to know," he replied
harsher than meant. With that he tried to fly away but some
part of him was forcing him to remain. He was torn up inside by
his orders to leave Shadow but he didn't want to.

Shadow felt.. hurt.. by Gabriel's words. Or at least how he said
them..
"Mirrors... I understand you have orders, but.. There's no way
I'm letting someone I'm starting to respect go without making
sure that the sanctuary is built and that those who don't want
it to happen brought out of their path with your help, and to
help Lightanis.." he answered, his voice somehow calm in tone as
he said those words, staring hard at Mirrors as he shakily stood
up, his head pounding horribly and feeling a little weak in the
legs, but still strong for his own words despite those things.

Warning: Blood and possible gore ahead
Gabriel closed his eyes. "If you have a weak stomach which I
doubt, look away," he said quickly before reaching down and
taking out a combat knife. With his free hand, he reached into
the ear that had his communicator in it and grabbed a hold of
it. He pulled it out with a strong yank, blood spurted out for
a few moments. He then dug the knife into his right arm and cut
out what looked like a small metal device. He stamped on both
objects to crush them. He licked his right arm before wrapping
it up. "Get me a can of ash, I'll dump it here and then we must
leave before they send in the Cleaners."

Shadow took out a can of ash from his 'hammerspace' and handed
it to Gabriel, unfazed by the blood that had come from Gabriel
in removing the devices from himself. He guessed they had to
leave quickly, and that Mirrors may have actually listened..
But there were things still to do..

With that he dumped the can on himself and the ground, he even
lit a match, burned a patch of the ground, and broke a few tree
limbs nearby for good measure. Gabriel cleaned the blood from
his knife off and then grabbed Shadow's arm and flew to a
rotting tree and hid with him.
Soon enough a swarm of shadows came to where they had been only
moments ago. The shadows formed three reaper like beings, they
looked around the area. Inspected the ash and other things
before cleaning up the area and leaving.
"I'm a Society Agent no more," Gabriel whispered to Shadow.

Shadow remained silent as he was hidden in a tree with Mirrors,
knowing darn well what could have happened if they were
discovered. He whispered back, "Let's hope that works for now..
but I can't believe you'd just.. quit the Society.."
The black-and-crimson hedgehog was actually shocked at how
willing Mirrors was going to quit such a dangerous and
intriguing group to help.. Maybe the bat had considered that for
a long while..
