Young Dragon, New Tricks
DIR By: Natasha

It had been not too long since the separatist uprising had
occurred. With everything that happened, Natasha felt indebted
to her friends; they had done so much to help her, without much
of a thought. Naturally, she had to make sure she had a gift for
one of her closest friends, her fellow royalty Dawn. They had
become such great friends over the years, and now they were both
royal figures; they were like sisters to each other, even having
eaten people together... You can't get much closer than that.
Still, she had noticed that her beloved friend was still
susceptible to her own unique flaws. With a little ingenuity...
she might be able to fix that. She just hoped Dawn would find
her gift useful, as well as pleasing to her sight; she had to
wait until the princess joined her.

It took a lot of effort and a bit of time, but Dawn was able to
calm her - quite literally -boiling rage from earlier. Any
separatist who was unfortunate enough to cross her path during
that time was met with a very painful, but quick end. She made
her way through the hall, searching for her best feline friend
per her request, wondering just what the queen wanted. She was
undeniably curious, though if she knew Natasha well enough, she
knew that what ever it was she had in store, it would be a very
pleasant surprise.
Soon the dragoness reached the feline, a small smile appeared on
her snout as she walked over. "Hello Natasha," she greeted "I
hope you were not waiting long."

"Not long at all, Dawn," Natasha said with a smile as her tail
flicked about underneath her dress; oh, how excited she was to
give Dawn her gift, to see if she liked it. "I hope you're
ready, because I have a bit of a... surprise for you," she
giggled. She waved for the princess to follow her as she walked
through the door beside her, into a somewhat blank room; the
only thing in it... was water. Pools of water, like a pool room
of sorts, but in fountains and such. "With all the help you've
been with the separatists... Killing them, eating them with
me... I wanted dearly to give you something in return, even if
it isn't nearly enough in my opinion." She turned around, hands
clasped behind her back; she was holding something. "Are you
ready for your present?.."

"I am," she replies, glancing around the room curiously. Just
what kind of present did the feline have for her? "Also I...I
want to apologize about before at the theatre...I should have
known better than to almost fall for that fiend's lies...I hope
you can forgive me.."

A tear came to Natasha's eyes as Dawn apologized to her. "Dawn..
There's no need to apologize... I will always forgive you..."
She approached the dragoness and gave her a gentle hug. That was
when the princess would feel cold metal touch her; while she
hugged her, the queen put a necklace on her, carefully crafted
with engraved with strange symbols, all surrounding a beautiful
centerpiece of sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and topazes. "I had
this necklace made for you; but, it's not just any necklace. I
had Yeri work on an enchantment for it for several days, a one
of a kind... I'll give you a hint; it has to do with the water
here." She smiled and tittered, blushed and swayed; it was time
to teach Dawn her new trick, a trick just for her.

"Oh?" the dragoness inquired, taking the necklace into her paws
and inspected it. It was indeed beautifully crafted, and she
could feel the magic energies radiating off of it and the runes.
But...just what kind of magic was in it? And what did the water
have to do with it? Curious, Dawn walked over to one of the
pools, stopping at the edge to peer over into the water. "Well
Natasha, I'll admit, you have me stumped," she says, before
turning back to face her. "Is there anything in particular I
need to do? An incantation I must recite?"

"Well..." A giggle escaped the feline's lips as she joined Dawn
at the edge of the water, peering down into it as well. "There
isn't any incantation or magic word to be said; you just have to
think. The necklace is enchanted to... simply put, let you
absorb water as an energy source of sorts." Natasha sat on the
side of the pool, looking to Dawn with a smirk. "There's a
little side-effect to it, but... the pros outweigh the cons for
it. With the water you collect, you can use it to fuel your
body, and you can collect the water from almost anything
organic." As she stood back up, she pressed her cheek against
the dragoness' for a moment; "Just think about absorbing the
water, and you'll see." Still, one had to ask what the
'side-effect' was...

Dawn tilted her head quizzically at the feline, but couldn't
deny the fact she wanted to see what would happen if she
absorbed the water. With a firm nod, she returned her gaze back
into the pool's water. She stared at her rippling reflection,
concentrating on absorbing the water. The necklace glowed as
tendrils of water rose from the pool and wrapped themselves
around the dragoness' form, melding into her body as intended.
With so much water intake at one time, one would think that the
slender dragon would increase in size.
And she did.
....Just not in the way it was expected.
Because of Dawn's odd biology, instead of the water causing her
body to grow ten times its normal size, the effect seemed to
have reversed and went into her hair and feathers instead. Now
rich in moisture, her down coat fluffed up, giving her the
appearance of a giant cotton ball with a tail and horn poking
out. "Well," Dawn murmured, her voice just barely audible over
her new fluffy coat "I would be lying if I said I wasn't
expecting this." She sneezed rather cutely, pink particles
coming out of her coat and floating to the floor like snow.

Seeing her friend turn into a literal ball of fluff, Natasha
could not contain her giggles; "I guess now you can kind of
guess what the side-effect is. It took a while to get it to
something mundane like that." She took a moment and brushed away
the fluff so Dawn could see, making sure she was okay. "For most
of us, it would typically get stored in our bodies like fat; but
I guess with you, it got all stored in your hair and your
feathers!" She fiddled about with her pockets beneath her dress,
eventually producing a hair tie like the one she would use to
pull back her hair, using it to move the fluff out of Dawn's
face. "I actually had to be a bit of a guinea pig to get this to
work, but I'm glad it does at least; with some practice, you
should be able to control how the water moves and where it is
stored."

"I see," the dragoness nods, listening to the info intently "I
do not approve of using yourself as a lab rat, Natasha, but I
will have to practice with this new ability and turn it into an
advantage. Though, I do admit that I feel quite snug like
this..." Her tail wriggled at the added cushion, though it was
hard to see due to all of the fluff. Nonetheless, Dawn would
very much practice with the water bending in hopes of using it
for different situations. It could definitely come in handy
should more separatists decide to attack.
Dawn ultimately decided to keep her added water weight in case
she finds something - or someone - to experiment her new ability
on. She attempted to walk...only to fall over in a heap of
floof. She sighed, glancing up at Natasha where a smile formed
on her muzzle; she still felt like she owed the feline for the
incident at the theatre, so what better way than to make her
smile? The dragoness rolled on her back, causing more of the
pink dust to fall from her feathers before she started to roll
about the room, a soft "wheeee!" emanating from her as she did
so.
