It is true that he asked some questions that could be somewhat
impertinent. Once, interviewing Diego Rivera – who had painted
my aunt, the poet Pita Amor, naked, which had caused a great
stir in the family –, I asked him if his teeth were baby teeth
because he saw them as very small. This was born more from
naivety, from ignorance. And many times it generated sympathy on
the part of the interviewee, because he was not born of any
       evil.
Also, in the early days, when I did interviews, I took notes in
notebooks that I still have, because there were no recorders.
       Although I Phone Number List

shorthand, I had not learned the good
one: I had studied Gregg and the good one was Pitman. Although
some time later I got my first recorder, which was a very heavy
box, to the point that it stretched my right arm. All for
asking... Yes. As a child they told me that I was a questioning
child, so asking questions was a bit of a consequence of that
character. I wanted to ask “how?”, “why?”, “where?”, “where?” I
had, and always had, the basic questions of journalism.

When interviewing different people, some even well-known and
important, I asked those basic questions that were part of my
concern or the curiosity that the other person inspired in me.
What helped me the most in life was, finally, not focusing on
myself. That's why in my life there is, perhaps, much more
journalism than literature. A critic, Emmanuel Carballo, once
told me: "Everyone is going to write their early autobiography,
you please write yours." And I didn't write anything. Nothing
came out, I didn't know what to say. Many did. Those of
thePrecocious Autobiography were small books that were published
all together at the end of the 60s. But it didn't work for me. I
paid more attention to others, I felt like I had something more
interesting to do than talk about myself. In that exercise of
journalism you began to go to prison, to the old Black Palace of
       Lecumberri.
