Thermal bowl/funnel

I discovered this term after trying to figure out a buck that I
no his bedding durning a short time every October. And areial or
topo won't show much to help you get a feel for how it lays out
so I will do my best to describe it. First of all this place is
in ag field county and it starts out as a small run off ditch
which feeds into a small pond hat has a dam on it that when over
flows on to a large creek but just right before the pond is a
cattail marsh very small in size maybe fifty yards square and
inside this there are a few willows were this buck beds and just
right before the cat tails are a bunch of small saplings to
small to hang a stand but once get back from that there is some
bigger trees you can hang on which I have done two different
seasons trying to catch come out. And what I found out with this
being a low spot in the evening once the wind dies downs there
is a 360 degree thermal that all sucks down in his favor and he
will sit tight till way after dark to move after I leave. So I
would call it a thermal bowl or funnel because all the scent fro
around is pulled in. I am thinking about trying the back side
this year and hang close till last light then slip in by the
pond after the thermal switch and try to be down in the same
level with him and try and get a shot off the ground be fore he
gets my scent. It will be a long shot to were he exits form
where I will be. Hoping it will stay warm till mid October and
the pond water will be still warm to help get a thermal rising
there to help me out. So there is a little tip you might want to
look out for. Also these low spots in fields and in hills will
all suck to that spot once the wind dies off. And they will wind
you way before stepping out.
