The book mapping trophy Whitetails is a good book that shows
terrian features and how bucks use them. It is a good book for
the newbie or the one that knows a few things.

I got this book for Christmas. It is so helpful when I suck at
       reading maps

Yes it helped me when I first started looking at them. The only
I used to be able to see was saddles. I am way past that now but
that book makes a great start. I hope this forum will help
better your map reading as we get going.

"Mapping trophy bucks" is a good start and shortens the learning
       curve. I recommend it.

I agree. I am trying to get in touch with Brad to see if he
would come to the site for some discousions. I am sure he has
different info he learned since writing his book.

I believe Mr. Herndon lives in southern Indiana...would love to
meet him and talk "topo" some day. May even be able to talk him
into writing a second book, lol.
