       convex hub

Wagon wheel, ridge top hub, convex hub and I'm sure their are
probably half dozen other names for it that I'm unaware
of...;multiple ridges and/or fingers which lead into, up to, or
fall away from an elevated central location.
The simple explanation would be....a deer traversing the ridges
or fingers will travel through a central location where it all
comes together (spokes of the wheel into the hub)...in most
cases this isn't forced movement....,but would be considered a
concentration of movement. If you went to small town USA and the
purpose was to see lots of people, your best odds would be to
park yourself at the intersection of Center and Main.
These ridge top hubs will often be home to a family unit or
group of doe. Reason being, each ridge or finger that leads away
from the hub provides access to multiple areas with multiple
food source. Deer need and actively search for variety in their
diet. And as quickly as one food source become available, it
will dry up and another becomes available...this process is
magnified during the fall. The deer patterns are ever changing,
so the closer you can get to the epicenter, the less change will
occur within the patterns. This will also often be the core of a
buck for the same reasons....AND, access to the doe, bedding
       points and security.

Ok his makes sense to me. But there are other factors to help
this come to play. Timing would be the first I would like to
here and the second would be would this be a rut hunting spot or
a thru out the the year. I see it could be used all year. But if
you have a target buck that is bedding in this area there could
be a lot of things to pull this off with all the extra eyes and
       noses being in this spot.
Great example that I would really like to dive into more.

Found a spot like this late this season. Found a tremendous
amount of deer sign which included big buck sign. Sat the last
two days of the season in the hub and had close to ten deer
filter by the last thirty minutes of light. It is on my list to
hunt next rut. Big rubs close to chest high are close by.....

Timing would be dictated by food source....the hub allows access
       to variety.

Is this a big woods setting or ag near by. If woods I would
thing oaks would be all over the tops there.

A way I see to hunt this maybe during the rut would be come in
from the north up the draw and hunt on top about where the 650
line is with a south wind. You would not be in the heat of the
hubs but between the two and a good south with should keep you
       clean in and out.
