Combat Experience
By: Alvarik Date: February 28, 2015, 4:22 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
((Talk about your IC combat experience here!))
The Knight-Captain sits down in the bright and warm hall and
says, "Me? Ha-ha, my combat experience is extremely exstensive!"
The man cracks his knuckles and says, "Where do I start? Well
when i was about 16 the first war started and even at such a
young age, I joined the ranks of the Stromgarde army and fought
against the orcs and achieved the rank of Seargant by the time I
was 22. For such a young man to be ranked this high was a big
deal. Anyways over the years I fought in other conflicts, and
when I was 30 I moved to Stormwind and witnessed many things,
even the death of the king's wife. I thankfully missed out on
the first conflict with the Scourge.I was Knighted when i was
about 38, and fought against the Quiraji, Blackrock orcs, the
Dark Iron, and then I moved to fighting throught the Dark
portal, and eventually when the Scourge came back I fought
alongside Highlord Bolvar, and was not there for his death at
the Wrathgate. I then came back and took a short break, and
fought against the Twilight's Hammer when the Cataclysm came.
After the defeat of Deathwing, I came to Pandaria and fought the
Horde in the Jade Forest. And now, I am stationed here, in
Draenor, and at the rank of Knight-Captain. So yes, long time of
battle experience." Alvarik gets up, and goes to his private
quaters.
From the Desk of Lady Marshall Asteris:
Caleb Norwill was, and remains, a capable swordsman, although he
is no longer my sword-brother. From what I understand, Fish was
trained by a group of paladins that no longer exist, the Order
of the Blazing Dawn - supposedly, he managed to climb his way
through the ranks until he became the "Dawnmaster" himself - a
ridiculous title for a ridiculous order. Fish must have thought
the same, and he dismantled the order the moment he took the
title. He did not speak of them much to me, but I was curious
about my one-time-Aide, and now that he is not, I suppose that
this information must go somewhere. His file is here, after-all.
Next, he became an acolyte of another paladin Order, the Order
of the Sepulchre. They still exist, although somewhat diminished
after his leaving. He left them, and that is how Fish became
Oathbreaker. But he was trained with them for a long time,
almost two years from what he told me. They trained him in both
sword and shield, but he was never touched by the Light, so they
could not train him in that. Fish did what he could, learning
some first aid, and learning the theory. He told me that he
studied their three books, on each of the Paladin virtues, and
clawed his way through the ranks tooth and nail, abused by their
Lady Marshall - a woman whose title I unfortunately share.
Cyrell Lucavi may have been cruel, but she was an excellent
tutor, and from what I understand - Fish served her as a squire,
and was promoted to a full paladin - without the Light - in
grand ceremony within the Cathedral in Stormwind.
Which, I suppose, makes his next actions all the more
questionable. Though I have found little records of his
involvement, and his own accounts are infuriatingly conflicting,
Fish purged the local worgen population in Westfall, removing
several feral-sympathizers from the landscape. He then went to
Northrend and, from what Fish and Graymind have been able to
tell me - he went certifiably mad. He thought himself a death
knight, and waged war on his Order of the Sepulchre. The Argent
Crusade has a few records and eyewitness accounts about him, but
the reports never mention him by name. Fish seems to have made
an impression on them, however. Regardless, his skills did not
save him, and Fish recklessly let himself get killed.
He was excommunicated when he still walked the world, despite
being dead. The Sepulchre ousted him - quite publicly, from what
I understand. He lied to me, when he joined us, and told me
there was no price on his head. I have found the recorded price,
and Caleb Norwill was worth a king’s ransom. Lucavi ought to
have spent that gold on improving her troops, not trying to cut
them down. But that is irrelevant. Fish fled them, and went to
fight in the Argent Tourney for a while, earning great wealth
and renown for his deeds - though not positive renown. After the
murder of Lord Oakheart’s son, he rushed into our waiting arms.
He joined the Stormwind Military, and served in the Pandarian
campaign, at Lion’s Landing and specialized missions. He served
as my Aide de Camp. He thought it an honor. But after four
months with no word or sight of our dead Fish, I struck him from
the record as MIA. Two months after that, I saw the scaly man
again, and he claimed that he had swum up from the depths, and
run to the Ebon Blade, for fear that if he did not join them, he
would be killed by them.
And that is all I know of Caleb James Norwil, who will always be
Fish. He was to choose a different name, but I suspect it was
impossible for him to separate himself from his storied past. I
am including the relevant reports to this file, in order to form
a more complete image of the man. I would wish him well, but
words are wind. I will instead suggest that those who seek to
control or command Fish take note; He is inflexible and vain,
and he has been known to betray in words and deed. He is
unstable, and I am glad to see him gone.

Report #262012139
Mission Statement:
Northwatch Hold has received reports that their far-flung scouts
have gone missing around the previously Scourge-held Quillboar
capital; Razorfen Downs. The quillboar have since dispersed, but
a number of the undead variety remain, traveling in small packs
along the hillside, but they seem to be under thrall to
something else as they have been systematically working through
the Hold's scouting forces - none of which have been seen again.
These disappearances directly correlate to reports of a fel-mage
that was seen skulking about the hills before disappearing
within the brambles of Razorfen Downs. The remaining scouts
described him as a broad, robed orc male, with the distinct
signs of fel-corruption. It seems plausible to the commanders at
Northwatch that he may have had something to do with the newly
aggressive, organized Quillboar.
Objectives:
-Retrieve the lost scouts; dead or alive.
-Eliminate the leader of the Scourged Quill-boar
OPTIONAL: If the Fel-Mage is not in control of the Quill-boar,
he provides a secondary objective.
Focus:
Retrieval and recovery, focused removal of leadership.
Small team of trained combatants with understanding of
fel-energies and necromancy, as well as a navigator for
Kalimdor's landscape. Anybody with particular insight into the
quill-boar. No more than five, plus mission lead.
Excellent opportunity for Applicants to receive combat
experience, or any who require it.
Lead: Initiate Caleb Norwill
After Action Report -
Operation: Warlock of Razorfen
Mission/objectives:
Conduct retrieval mission into Razorfen Depths (RFD) with the
purpose of finding the missing scouts from Northwatch Hold and
Fort Triumph; including their scouting leader; Summers.
Determine the source of the organized quill boar raids, and
destroy it.
General description:
Order Of Battle (“OOB”):
Guard-Initiate Caleb Norwill: CO/Heavy (CN)
Guard-Solider Theodean Wynchester: Heavy (TW)
Guard-Novice Beyarma Woodrey: Healer, Druidic Support (BW)
Guard-Applicant Kaavia Driftmark: Druidic Support (KD)
Academe-Initiate Dexter Knucrank: Arcane Support (DK)
Operation:
The Operational Plan was set into two objectives:
-Retrieve the lost scouts; dead or alive.
-Eliminate the leader of the Scourged Quill-boar
Action Summary:
Briefing: Team arrived at Fort Triumph early, and met with CN's
contact; Sergeant Fortinbras Cartwright. Cartwright explained
that the quill boar forces that had led a direct assault on the
keep had been quelled, but that more came every day. Quillboar
had become undead. Team entered RFD with immediate sense that
something was wrong. Heavy amounts of blood were encountered
along the passageways leading down into the dens proper. KD
noticed drag marks, presumably from bodies, that led down into
the depths itself.
Scouting: Team scouted through RFD, finding it mostly deserted,
save for rotting corpses of humans and quill boar. Each room was
lit with blue-flames, similar to that used by the Scourge.
Encountered a statue of a boar with glowing eyes. KD advised to
look away from it, as the statue began to hum. Team vacated
room, two decayed (non-living) skeletons appeared behind them
and promptly turned to dust. CN hypothesized that they were
formed from the statue itself, with properties of a necromantic
artifact. The next room held another statue; but this one was
much larger, with a waterfall of blood that pooled around is
base. The bones in it rose up, formed a skeletal-blood creature
(hostile) and screamed out 'The dead will outnumber the living.'
It proceeded to attack the team. Weakened by DK's destruction of
the statue, and KD's removal of its head, its tentacles
engorged. CN, TW, and BW were able to eliminate them with
relative ease.
Team entered an antechamber with a large gong on the side of the
wall, and what was presumably a barracks. Numerous bodies were
piled throughout the room. KD was sent to scout around bodies,
and make sure that they didn't animate. BW used the roots to
come to understand some of the recent of the history of the
place; the briars had been compacted around RFD, in order to
keep something in, or out. RFD could previously accommodate a
larger population, but the compression made the air more stifled
and the area smaller. Through the roots, BW was able to hear a
crying/laughing sound. TW noted that it must be Summers - gone
mad. CN ordered that the group find him, mad or otherwise.
Retrieval: The team arrived at a series of cages. Most were
empty. One held a pale, thin man with a tattered Alliance
tabard. Malnourished, and injured around his arms and eyes the
man identified himself as Summers, albeit vaguely. TW was
correct in his assumption, and that the man had gone mad.
Summers revealed that all the other scouts were dead, and turned
into the throne of what he referred to as The Black Carrier, who
brought him to this place. (CN assumed that he was speaking of
the Fel-Mage) Due to his condition, and the still present
fel-mage, CN tasked BW with the return of Summers, who went
willingly and quietly with encouragement from KD and TW.
Elimination: As Summers described,t he next room contained a
huge pile of bones, atop of which sat an orc in robes, assumed
to be the Black Carrier (BC). He confirmed this by condemning
the team for their retrieval of Summers and assault of his home.
He proceeded to attempt to raise two skeletons from the earth,
easily dispatched by TW. KD and CN worked on attacking BC. They
managed to pin BC to the ground, but he lashed out at them, and
was able to get to his feet. He attempted to form a death-gate
of sorts, but was stopped by a bomb that DK had placed. KD was
hit in the blast as well, but she managed to avoid the worst of
it. BC, however, was sent to the ground severely injured. CN ran
him through with a sword.
Aftermath: No injuries were reported, save for shallow burns on
KD. CN gave control over to Sergeant Cartwright and the local
guards now that RFD was once again empty. DK advised that a mage
division come through with fire-elementals to purge any traces
of the necromantic taint - this suggestion was passed on to the
Sergeant.
Operation Status: Success.
Significant issues:
Observations:
-Some slacks in using signs under stress.
-Team exhibited the necessary caution admirably.
-KD, BW, and TW are worthy of commendation for their efforts in
seeing Summers safely home.
Respectfully submitted,
Guard-Initiate Caleb Norwill

CC: AA P. Graymind, GAj S. Windblade, AAj H. Pearce, GSgt S.
Shadowquill
REPORT - HIGHBANK COUNTEROFFENSIVE
Team Lead - GInit Axasa
Team - GApp C. Norwill, GNov A. Redmist, ANov M. Verric, GSgt S.
Shadowquill, AA P. Graymind, GA E. Longsight
Upon gathering at Highbank via portal we mustered and received
briefing from Alliance Field Marshal Erik Scharl. Our mission
was to advance behind the ranks of a line of infantry with the
intent of securing a fortified position which had come under
heavy artillery bombardment, in the hopes of staving off a full
siege and invasion of the Highbank fortress and civilian
complex.
We were advised to proceed with caution by gryphonflight by
skirting the unassailed south wall of Highbank fortress, and
landing at a beachhead some half-mile distant from the target
site. Further intelligence advice indicated the presence of a
small force of infantry (est. 160 melee and rifles), as well as
the presence of a fel-mage on the battlefield, and requisite
engineers and gunnery masters attending the Horde battery.
Advance along the beach proceeded by stages, with GApp Norwill
taking point and all strikers forming a wedge surrounding mender
AA Graymind. We met little resistance and were able to reach the
target location with no casualties despite heavy barrage from
the cannon.
Taking the position itself was trivial, with the vast majority
of danger posed by the bombardment itself. Situation turned
critical only with the revelation of the Horde fel-mage, who
summoned forth a vast infernal-type demon from the skies above
the point, intending to crush us beneath its flame and sheer
size. Through quick thinking and selfless valor, ANov Verric
conjured a portal to unknown destination, and maintained the
portal long enough to allow the infernal to pass through and
thus disperse the majority of its damage potential in an unknown
location irrelevant to the mission. Team sustained superficial
injury from the fel flames of the infernal with the exception of
ANov Verric, who was unable to evade the flame and was burned
severely.
Upon observing the casualty of ANov Verric, GA Longsight became
highly distraught and repeatedly attempted to throw himself into
the still-burning fel flames to recover ANov Verric's body. I
ordered him restrained, and then incapacitated when he grew
violent in his attempts to escape GApp Norwill's grasp. GApp
Norwill sedated GA Longsight with a chemical agent, and remained
by GA Longsight. ANov Verric had remained conscious and in
incredible pain, and was borne away by three Alliance menders
from the forward assault group to a hospital vessel docked
offshore.
Through the actions of GSgt Shadowquill and GA Longsight's
companion animal, the Horde fel-mage was routed and
incapacitated. I ordered the unit to form up for an assault on
the remaining cannoneers, but was interrupted by the sudden
presence of what appeared to be an aquatic assault force. The
hospital vessel where ANov Verric was assaulted by an unmarked
vessel, using what appeared to be cables made of seaweed, and
was being dragged beneath the ocean's surface. I then belayed my
original order and prepared to send GSgt Shadowquill, GApp
Norwill, GNov Redmist and AA Graymind beneath the waves under
the effect of a breathing enchantment, but was interrupted once
more by what appeared to be ANov Verric himself, wreathed in
flames. We saw him for but an instant, before he detonated in a
vast explosion that scattered the Alliance fleet and disrupted
the seaweed chains, thus saving countless dozens of lives from
being drowned. However, in the process, ANov Verric lost his
life.
ANov Verric's sacrifice and the sudden rescue of so many
Alliance lives seemed to bolster the morale of the forward
assault team, who rallied and rushed the cannon battery. While
GA Longsight was restrained and returned to Highbank by Alliance
menders, I ordered the remainder of my team to divide into two
paired strike forces to engage key targets in the ensuing melee,
and remained at the fortified target point using elementals to
enhance the breastworks and increase the defensive potential of
the point. The cannoneers were routed and forced to retreat, and
the teams returned to me successful.
Upon relief by Alliance infantry, I ordered the return of the
unit to Highbank to regroup and debrief with Field Marshal
Scharl. Following debriefing, the remainder of the unit returned
home to the Keep, and I met with GA Longsight in the Highbank
infirmary. GA Longsight and I returned to the Keep via portal,
and I directed him to our own infirmary to remain until deemed
fit to leave on his own power.
It should be known that in my opinion as team leader that all
acting team members performed admirably and without fault, and
that special notice and attention should be given to ANov
Verric's exceptional bravery and valor which saved not only the
lives of his team, but of many dozens or even hundreds of
Alliance soldiers. Had he survived, I would recommend him for
promotion and recognition - as it stands, I recommend him for
the highest possible posthumous award, and would appreciate my
recommendations forwarded to Stormwind High Command for
recognition of ANov Verric's service to the cause of the
Alliance.

GUARD-INITIATE AXASA

After Action Report - Operation: Capricious Shrubbery
Mission/objectives:
Conduct a reconnaissance patrol into the Eastern Plaguelands to
the region colloquially referred to as Tyr's Hand (hereinafter
“TH”) to confirm existence of unknown necromantic laboratory and
destroy same, if practicable.
General description:
Order Of Battle (“OOB”):
Academe-Sergeant Reddwyn Merriweather, CO/Mender (hereinafter
“RM”)
Guard-Initiate Axasa Nolastname, Elementalist (hereinafter “A”)
Guard-Applicant Caleb Norwill, Heavy (hereinafter “CN”)
Guard-Applicant Finnigan Mahoney, Heavy (hereinafter “FH”)
Operation:
The Operational Plan was divided into three phases:
1. Approach: Utilizing CN's knowledge of local terrain and areas
of operation of enemy combatants, utilize an indirect and/or
clandestine approach to TH.
2. Insertion: Infiltrate target by main force and confirm
existence of laboratory.
3. Extraction: Exfiltrate back to base.
Action Summary:
Approach: Team was unobserved by remnants of the Scourge,
however an individual attired as a representative of the Cult of
Death noticed Team's presence. A utilized electrical powers to
stun the individual. CN dispatched same. No alarm sounded. No
further friction during this phase was encountered.
Insertion: No significant patrol presence was encountered. One
(1) undead construct of the Geist variety was encountered.
Subject exhibited above average strength and agility for one of
its make. A and CN utilized same procedure as executed in
response to detection during Phase 1 Approach. Results were
similar. No alarm sounded.
A second sentry of the patchwork/ abomination variety was
encountered. It exhibited above average perception, dexterity
and reaction. FM decommissioned the sentry with extreme
efficiency with an unorthodox use of a two handed war ax. Again,
no alarm was sounded.
Alchemical / manufacturing laboratory identified and confirmed
by presence of the following indicators:
1. Large vats filled with unknown green liquid, in which were
suspended body parts of humanoid, animal and other
unidentifiable species. Such vats emitted large amounts of gas
and vapors of a foul-smelling variety. Later examination
confirmed the presence of large quantities of formaldehyde.
2. Four (4) technical personnel of unknown species or national
origin. All individuals were equipped with breathing apparatus
and industrial grade personal protective equipment (goggles,
thick leather gloves, rubberized oilskin smocks, thick heavy
leather boots).
3. One (1) Forsaken, of unknown arcane/magical talent, self
identified as “Monark” (sp?) (hereinafter “M”). Unusual physical
feature self-evident by the substitution of an octopus tentacle
in place of left arm. The tentacle did not appear to be necrotic
in nature.
4. One (1) Abomination of unusual size (hereinafter “AOUS”) with
disparate anatomical components: Cranium was that of a mid-sized
Devilsaur, torso was that of an Elekk or similar pachyderm-like
creature; legs were that of a rhino or other such creature. AOUS
possessed bat-like or draconic wings (that is, leather and not
feathered). AOUS did not possess talons, claws or a tail.
Utilizing close quarters training and mutual support, Team was
able to disable all active resistance. Particular actions of
note:
CN exhibited exceptional skill with sword and shield
FN utilized maximum force with multiple combat disciplines: ax,
feet and fist. FH dispatched M with a single punch to the neck.
The blow was instantly fatal to M.
A 's first action was to utilize elemental forces to disperse
any possible debilitating effects of fighting in a hazardous
environment, create multiple hindrances to successful
resistance, decommission AOUS.
Extraction: Team searched for evidence supporting links between
the target and Goblin suppliers, other that the indicators
presented above. CN found a book of unknown make and
manufacture, the contents of which are written in what appears
to be Gutterspeak or a dialect thereof. All hostile personnel
encountered were slain and the the facility was destroyed
utilizing explosive in possession. The corresponding secondary
explosions were indicative of the presence of large amounts of
unstable materials or asset deprivation measures on the part of
M or other parties heretofore unknown.
Significant issues:
(a) additional training required of CN and FM regarding noise
discipline and use of non-verbal communication.
(b) FM may require cross training in a secondary arm, as
unorthodox fighting style utilizes surprise and misdirection,
often resulting in intentional disarming.
Observations:
(a) OOB executed all phases of Operational Plan with minimum
friction
(b) CN and FM demonstrated field experience and weapon skill
above training ground level
(c) OOB received no injuries, primarily as a result of shock,
decisive action and “Fix and Finish” tactics.
(d) Lack of significant sentry and/or patrol elements indicative
that the laboratory was relying on subterfuge and camouflage as
primary defensive mechanisms.
Discussion:
Other than the Observations made herein above, OOB conducted all
aspects of the Operational Plan with professionalism and
efficiency concomitant with their experience and skill.
Comments:
Alliance High Command intelligence sources were accurate as to
the location and nature of the laboratory. The unusual
anatomical features of AOUS supports Servitor intelligence
regarding transport of exotic species. Pending debriefing and
analysis of the written materials salvaged, it cannot be
determined if this laboratory was unique.
Based on the confirmation of intelligence, destruction of the
laboratory, and OOB preservation CO deems Operation: Capricious
Shrubbery successfully concluded.

Re: Combat Experience
By: Sila Date: February 28, 2015, 6:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Sila tenses at the question. Though her masked expression gives
little away, her eyes flicker noticeably to the daggers at her
side.
"I... avoid combat whenever I can now." She begins tentatively,
her mind racing back to her violent past. "But once...it came
very naturally to me."
She steps down from the stone ledge and paces across the floor
of the catacombs, fidgeting lightly with the rim of her tabard.
She stands close now, and with a slight shrug divulges her
secret.
"I believe in holding nothing back. No hesitation, no pain, no
mercy. These things are contemplated before the fight, but in
the fight all that matters is... victory. I fought first when I
was young, and learned the price of defeat. In the years that
followed, I would experience it again and again. I saw the
world, and everywhere I went there were individuals who were
stronger than me, more skilled than me...
But I was a little girl, and they believed they could take from
me. They believed I would be subject to fear, or that I'd give
in. They expected me to beg and cry, and that was my advantage."
Sila pauses now, and stares at you softly as he draws one of her
daggers from her belt. The simple dark blade is named Justice,
or Vengeance, depending on how you asked.
"But I fought each and every time. I gouged at their eyes, sank
my teeth in their throats. I've bitten off fingers, held faces
in fiery coals, strangled a woman by the gold around her
throat...
I should be dead. One of these fights should have seen me broken
by stronger arms, crushed by a more powerful enemy. But I
prevailed. I refused to die, to even contemplate death."
She faces away quickly, hunching her shoulders. For a long time
she is silent, and a hand goes to her face to wipe at her eyes.
"I don't know why... the Light didn't allow me to fail. I could
have died, and so many others would have lived... so many who
didn't deserve to die.
But it chose me instead, and now... I have a debt to pay. A
blood debt that stretches back far enough to damn me.
I will spend every moment of the rest of my pathetic human
lifetime trying to right what I've done. But I won't do it with
my daggers."
She allows Vengeance to fall to the ground, it clatters against
the stone.
"I will do it with words, conviction, and the strength of the
people."
She turns to face you once more and nods lightly.
"Because my experience in combat and a lifetime of fighting has
taught me that if I want to win the fight, I must fight with
everything I am.
But if I want to change the world...
I must give even more."

C0G-W33L stares at you, his cold purple eyes boring into your
flesh as he thinks about the question. "Pre-upgrade, Mizzcrank
was not a fighter. He spent his youth avoiding conflict at all
cost- so much so that he created a living purely out of stealth
and sleight of hand." Cogs, as always, seems to distance himself
so much from his past that when referring to the pre-upgraded
self it seems an entirely different person.
"Upon upgrade he wished to maintain the same level of
non-violence but was concerned I would override his choices in
the name of efficiency. He was also concerned that were I to be
made completely docile, his discoveries could be harnessed by
others and weaponized. It was this fear that caused him to
install within my core operating system the following rules."
Cogs stiffens up as he begins to recite the Three Laws of his
core OS:
1. I must protect personal hardware and software at all costs.
2. I must not harm an organic except when in conflict with First
Law.
3. If First Law is broken, internal core power must be protected
at all costs through meltdown.
Cogs loosens up a bit, "After joining this organization I have
learned combat will be necessary to keep both hardware and
software safe. I have been upgrading combat algorithms and am
beginning to weaponize my A.R.M.O.R. (his power armor/mount)
with dual core-powered cannons." Cogs turns to walk away and
finishes by saying "I am beginning to judge organics as threats
more frequently, this should improve self-preservation
statistics substantially."
As he moves out of site, the sound of his massive combat armor
hitting the floor can be heard, along with the sound of Cogs
climbing up and connecting in. After the subsequent blast of the
mechagnome shooting off into the night, all you are left with
are echoes in your thoughts of his final words.

Well as far as combat experience... well I participated in many
feats with my old comrades of the alliance after the cataclysm.
I would say which, but these are classified and not allow to be
discussion but my feats in Draenor are becoming known and the
reputation precedes me.
