I often find myself lost in thought when I discuss The Silent.
There is a lot to consider when it is the forefront of
conversation, and I hope this is understandable - though, I find
the only person trying to justify this is myself. Perhaps this
journal will help me to further collect my thoughts on matters
before I act on them. It pays to be tactical, even in casual
conversation. A sleight of hand in even the most cursory of
exchanges can prove to be useful in the long run.
Recently, I’ve undertaken my personal journey of administering
humanitarian aid towards the townspeople of Lakeshire in the
wake of the Widowers and the Redridge Mercenary Corps. The town
has much to recover from, and I hope that I can ease the
process. I believe I’m going to speak with Eveya about the
potential of opening a soup kitchen to feed the struggling town
something other than anchovies. This has given me more time to
come to know some of Lakeshire’s residents. It seems that
Berkely had bought Mrs. Silver’s silence, who now speaks freely
of what was imposed on the town.
She told me of Berkely’s station as a tyrant, and how he
threatened to make each of the resident’s breathe their last
breath if they spoke a word of what was going on. I’m not
surprised by this, though I am surprised at how well Berkely hid
his intentions. Mrs. Silver also told me of a man who fit the
description of O’Hara meeting with Berkely once a day in the
Town Hall - which raises further questions about the connection
between the Widowers and the Redridge Mercenary Company. I wish
I had more time to speak to Berkely on this, but I doubt our
next encounter will end peacefully. I suppose it shall remain a
mostly unsolved mystery, then.
Speaking on Berkely’s fate - I’ve kept in close contact with my
friend in Duskwood. It seems she’s set Berkely’s horses free,
and after they’re retrieved he intends to throw his pitch to the
Westfall Brigade. I doubt this will end well, and my contact
will offer him respite once more in Raven Hill and ensure they
remain there until The Silent is ready to move out. I assume
they’ll be fleeing - as word of their actions have spread to
Elwynn and Stormwind, and I doubt they’ll be granted free
access. We will attempt to intercept them in Stranglethorn Vale.
I suppose these are the deepest of my work related concerns, at
the present. I’m sure there will be more - there always is, but
I suppose what plagues me most are my personal matters. Willor’s
return has given me some grief, but I had expected this from the
moment I received the letter from him. He’s like a weeping sore
that returns to plague you after you thought it had been cured.
He’s is my brother, and of course, I love him dearly, but his
decisions trouble me. His petulant attitude drives my nerves to
their limit, and I try to avoid much contact with him, though I
suppose it’s inevitable now. In truth, my newfound apprentice,
Raithe, reminds me much of Willor. I suppose my interactions
with Raithe may serve as a way to keep track of my own concerns,
and possibly work out issues with Willor. This merits some more
research.
As I said - Raithe reminds me of Willor. During our expedition
to Redridge, Raithe nearly threw a tantrum that we didn’t pursue
Berkely immediately. It’s this same reaction that I would expect
out of Willor. Though, that’s not his only incontinence with
these matters. On our other expedition this past week, Raithe
intervened with Gewn and her own matters. He killed the cultist
that she sought to make use of, and promptly threw her own knife
into Raithe’s foot. I saw that Aleifr take care of him, and
stayed behind to apologize to Gewn on his behalf. She told me
her moment of wrath had passed, and that she had forgiven him. I
told her I would see that he didn’t repeat this, though I should
hope he learns to stop acting like a child during matters that
don’t concern him. Especially matters that Gewn is involved
with, and even more so if he is seeking to learn from her.
This conversation with Gewn was not wholly unenlightening. She
is a curious figure, and I respect her. I don’t feel as if I
have the right to question her, but in truth, not many do. She’s
a figure that remains to be understood, even if she doesn’t want
to be understood. For now, I will respect that, but I intend on
earning her trust. It’s curious how she stays behind to aid The
Silent although she has nothing to gain from this. Regardless, I
hope that she will open up to me in time. She could prove to be
a powerful friend in a time of need - something I desperately
seek.[/quote]
