Gewn's Insane Ramblings

Gewn has been having some memory problems recently. You all know
how it is. You take over the body of a willful person and
suddenly your memories start to mix with the memories of your
host. To combat this, Gewn has started dictating journals to her
servant This was the result of the short first session.
[quote]I have to wonder what the difference between real cake
and fake cake actually is. I met an interesting woman today. I’m
not sure I caught her name. She spoke about her benevolent
illusions. Apparently, she's often approached by people who
willingly submit to delusion and eat cake in tropical locations.
The way she spoke blurred the line between her illusions and
reality. It upset me. The line should be drawn hard, just so you
don't fool yourself. She said that fake cake is everything real
cake is, but just for a short while. I argued that that’s what
makes it different, but honestly, what repercussions does real
cake have past a few hours? Sure, it actually does have real
consequences for the world at large, but the self doesn’t notice
it. Does it really have consequences if you don’t feel them? No,
it doesn’t. I submit. Fake cake is good enough.
Speaking of false worlds and false consequences reminds me of an
encounter with a guard I had recently. She caught me as I was
moving one of my spare bodies. I kept it in the chamber that the
Silent meet in, and I didn’t want any of them to find out. The
guardswoman caught me dragging the coffin I keep the body in.
That didn’t immediately cause her to arrest me, so things were
going well. She had some questions about the Silent which I
deflected. Everything went fine until I dropped the coffin. My
body spilled out and started screaming like they do. That
actually did warrant an arrest. I explained that it was a spare
body that I use an artificial soul to keep it alive, and assured
her that the poor inhabitant of the body was living a happy and
fulfilling life inside a dream spell I crafted. The only reason
she was awake and screaming was that the bump interrupted the
spell, leaving her scared and confused. That was a bunch of
lies, but calmed the guard down enough for me to talk her into
leaving without any more violence.
But speaking of violence: severed hands! Caleb lost his hand,
and I agreed to make him another one. Well, it’s not so much for
him as for his fiance. Id, I think. Caleb wants to leave his
stump alone for silly identity reasons. He insisted on payment
anyway. I’m glad. I just hate working with undead flesh. I think
I’m going to squeeze a little more out of this one, for my
trouble. At some point in the conversation, I asked Caleb if it
would make him feel better to make the hand out of his fiance’s
bits. Caleb seemed to hate the idea, but he mused that Id might
actually go for it. I really think he might even pay extra. What
have I got to lose in asking?
Either way, I should get to work on the bones. Journal over.
Dictated, not read.
