A Few Tips for In Character Interviews

In-Character interviews are a newer policy for <The Silent>, and
represent a chance for the officers to get to know your
character on a personal level. Officers generally ask a a few
general questions, and then progress to more individualized ones
about your character’s responses, often pushing them for further
information. Come prepared to answer a variety of questions
about your character; meaning that your character’s backstory,
history, and personality should be as solid and thorough as
possible.
Generally, two main questions are asked during the IC portion:
what your character hopes to achieve or more generally, wants,
from joining the Silent, and why should the Silent take them.
The best way to think of this, is that your character is making
a case for why they should be part of this order, and how it
benefits both parties. Ultimately, its an argument, and should
be treated as one. The more specific you can be about your
character’s experience, wants, and goals, the more legitimate
and persuasive your argument will be. Honesty may be the best
policy here, or it might not be - the tricks making your
character seem believable and trustworthy, even if they’re not.
Remember when applying to the Silent to know what you’re
applying for. The Silent is a somewhat-shady vigilante group of
do-gooders. We have events that for the most part, involve some
degree of combat. That’s what our overall aim and goal is ICly,
and your character should be aware that your character needs to
fit into that. Your character is being judged partially on how
well they fit within this mold, or how flexibly they can be
pushed into their role. You want to have your character put
their best foot forward, as if it were a real interview.
Ultimately, the best advice I can give for IC- Interviews is to
take them seriously. Your character certainly should, if they
want to be part of the Silent. Realize your character’s goals
and wants, and why they would want to join the Silent, and
understand the purpose of the Silent overall. Know your
character. And know your audience.
