Perceptive RI for One Hour?

In the TROM book we read:
--- Quote ---
> Just make with the paws on the furnishings for an hour or
> two; it will work wonders for you.
--- End Quote ---
In reference to doing perceptive RI. I'm wondering what benefit
there would be in going around my room and touching the objects
in the room for an hour or so.

Dennis states that the object of TROM is to move you attention
out of the past and into the present. This ability is to
develop control of where you put your attention. It’s like
pointing a flashlight in a dark room. You can put the beam any
where you like.
With TROM the exercises all have you putting your attention on
the present moment directly. This is what RI does. You can only
create something in the present moment so the creative process
is one of bringing your attention into the present moment and
creating something.
The balance of the processes in TROM are for finding emotionally
charged incidents in the past that pull your attention out of
the present and by repeatedly looking at them reduce their
charge so you can put your attention on the present moment in
time.
All physical objects are in the present moment so grabbing them
is the mechanical way of putting your attention on the present
moment.

Thank you for your reply Pete as well as your work to preserve
and update this material. As you know, in study tech, anytime
you dont understand something, you research it until it is
clear. It seems like a small point, but the first thing I would
like to bring up is this sentence you wrote:

My question is about the word "balance". Don't you mean
"intent"?
Next you state:

My first question about this is: regarding the physical objects
in the present moment, say, in this hotel room where I am typing
this. Are all of these objects here and created by something
else? Or did "I" create everything that I currently perceiving
with my 5 senses?
My next question is: all TROM exercises are run until there is
no more change in awareness. But I cant imagine any change in
awareness from doing this exercise or any change in awareness
after doing it for 1 hour.
My final question: Do you have an expectation of what this
exercise might produce? Would you oversee some sessions of this
for pay? I'm not committing to engaging your services, but I am
interested.

Balance means those processes that are left or that were not
mentioned.
What is the nature of physical reality? Good question. Hubbard
calls it an agreed upon reality which would mean that you and
someone else worked together to create it. Dennis states that
the matter in this universe is mostly generated as the byproduct
of games play therefor not created by anyone. However the
objects in your hotel room were fashioned by someone into the
shapes you see.
So the next question is are you perceiving what is “actually”
there or is the room you see different from the room I would see
if i was there so it is a subjective reality.
I haven’t found a test that could verify if apparent reality was
the same as some “actual” reality.
I have no talent or inclination to be an auditor so no thanks i
won’t monitor a session for pay.
The beauty of TROM is you are the Auditor and the skill you
develop at doing it goes with you anywhere you are.
Does TROM work for you? Can you do RI for an hour creating some
item that is interesting to you without any distractions being
thrown at you by your reactive mind?
If you can do RI with absolutely machine like perfect execution
then you have achieved the condition of no change. If however
you get bored with creating apples all around you and must
switch to something else or fall into a coma then you still have
room for improvement in doing TROM.
The goal with TROM processes is to increase you ability to focus
your attention on what you are doing now from 5 minutes at a
streach to 10 minutes at a streach without having something
distract you. It’s about your ability to persist on a given
course despite difficulty.

Peter - this is a great piece of data for me, thanks.
I was unsure of 'no change', however, this info allows me to
recognise that there is change occurring - I am aware that
running RI or Level 2 that my attention drifts and I end up in
'fantasy land' thinking about something else, then suddenly
become aware that I moved off task.
I think I'll set a timer, starting at 5 mins as you say.
It is interesting to consider that this drifting wouldn't happen
as often if a facilitator were to be present to maintain the
PC/clients attention during the process...

Hello, Supreme, did you find someone to twin with, or a
volunteer to help you get started on your DIY journey through
TROM? As you know I can work with someone briefly over skype
... enough times for them to get grooved in.

Ummm.... no.
While being able to focus your attention certainly is a
desirable skill, the actual goal of TROM processing is to end
the state of compulsive games play you are in, and move into a
state where you can shift between a no-game state and voluntary
game state at will.
At no point does Dennis say R.I. should be used as a tool for
seeing how long you can focus your attention. R.I. is used to
replace lost mental mass with your own creations and orient you
to the present. You can do R.I. past the point it accomplishes
this without having to worry about over-run, and that's all he
has to say about it.
Peter is stating his own purpose, not the purpose of R.I. or
TROM.
So don't get wrapped up in this 'other purpose' when doing TROM.
You can waste a lot of session time seeing just how long you can
do R.I. when you've gone past the flat point.
If it amuses you to do R.I. marathons to see how long you can
focus your attention, fine. But Peter, don't go telling people
this is the goal of TROM. It's not.
