I'm not really sure that would explain anything. Clicking the
quote button doesn't redirect me to the post reply page, instead
it just adds a quote to the quick reply box at the bottom of the
thread.

It's sort of hidden. There is a little plus sign next to it that
needs to be clicked in order for it to appear.

You can turn the quick reply box off in your settings. That
fixes the quote button.
