OOC: Okay
"Well, suh, I don't know where to start. I-I guess I'll start
with the conditions. Everybody lives in a 3 room cottage. Not
lots of room, but its nice. We can own 3 pigs at a time, we only
own one but ya know, The houses can get cold if you don't have a
fire, and sometimes it gets crowded. It has a kitchen and 2
bedrooms each. And then we all have a bathroom outside in this
outhouse. We work from 7 in the mornin' until 5 at night and we
get 1 break in the afternoon at 12 and we go until 1. And uhm we
do have rights sir, my daddy owns a pig, my daddy attends church
every sunday, my daddy owns 2 guns, my daddy votes, he's as free
as the free folk, he just don't own his own property. I have
seen some folks get whipped pretty bad a few times, but they
warn't workin real good, and they was bein' lazy, and such. But,
next year McCartney promised he'd let me free, it was apart of
my daddy's contract, so I'm gonna be a farmer, or a business
man. And then Ms. Jessie McCartney, his wife, she taught me to
read n write n stuff like that. And my sister, Janie, she's
gonna be going to the University I betcha in a few years cause
she's real smart. I know some folks will be hungry when we run
short on food, and such, but they do us right and we do um
right, we all wanna be free, but we gotta work for it, is that
good sir?"

"How do we know he wasn't threatened or intimidated? But at any
rate, he denies education to his slaves! Doesn't own property,
but has guns? What kind of system does he run?"

OOC: To be completely honest, I feel as if that hurt you more
than it helped.
"I'm a bit more concerned about those people being whipped
comrade. That sounds a bit inhumane."

"No, sir, please, please don't, please don't. We are educated,
we are educated, I said we was educated didn't I sir!" The boy
cried. "McCartney taught us right I suppose, you DEN folks are
nothin' but cowards. Puttin' words in our mouth. We'd fight for
Mr. and Ms. McCartney any day. Now, now you can eat your words
sir." The boy approached the representative and spit in his
face. "I hope you burn in hell, sir."
"Alright, that's enough," McCartney walked up to him and told
him "Wait outside, there boy, go wait outside now. You did good,
son. You did good."
The boy walked out of the room and spit on the floor. McCartney
sat down in his seat. "Well then, we did teach um right, he spit
in your darn face."

"And yet you've ignored my question," walking over to the
Representative from DEN and handing him a rag. "That was
uncalled for sir, and you know it."

The Speaker sat with disgust as the boy spat on the floor. One
thing they didn't teach him, manners. He motioned for someone to
go clean it up.
"Well Mr. McCartney. The boy has talked, what now?"

Ascrith nodded and took the handkerchief and wiped the spit off
of him, shaking his head. That boy didn't know any manners, but
it wasn't his fault. He didn't know better. "One thing.
Education is not present. And we can all prove that by this most
recent encounter. They use child slavery and do not educate
them. How can they move on in life? This must be stopped."

"Representative, he said he was being educated by your WIFE.
Does your wife educate all 55% of your population? You don't
even send these kids to school! There is no education system in
your state for those people! And universities cost money. So how
will a slave support that?" He asked, and shook his head. "YOU
doomed them to fail. How dare you accuse us of such a thing?"

"You are a foolish man. My wife is not the only one to educate,
many parents do as well, and their education is paid by me, out
of my pocket, thank you very much. What do you want a bill? You
want me to give you my yearly income? What would you like to see
to prove this. It's true we don't guarantee an education, its up
to the parents to educate them or its up to someone who is on
the plantation to help, and my wife, she is a wonderful women
who spends her night hours teaching these people to read, write,
spell, history, math, you name it. And I know many people who
offer the same things on their plantations. I'd say a good 25%
of those servants are educated, and they move on to be great
people, like former Representative Mr. Spoke, he grew up on a
plantation, he worked hard, he was educated by the master's
wife, he went on to a college, he became a representative. So if
your greatest concern is education then why not pass a bill on
education regulations instead of telling these servants that
their choice to become indentured servants was wrong, and that
y'all know what's best for them."
