So the rest of the world exists...
DIR By: Confederacy of Turkducken

---------------------------------------------------------
There is a big wide world outside our borders, and I say we
should go see it. However I think we should hold a little
competition (of sorts) to find out what's out there. People
should leave ideas for countries below us, give a rough
estimation of militant strength, economy, etc., a name, and
geographical location. Then once we have a few of those we
should vote on which ones we like the best.
To Clarify make up a possible Country that exists outside of our
borders and give it a name and some details, doesn't matter how
unspecific or specific they are. We'll take a vote on the ones
we think are the best and then they become real.
And when the most popular ideas have been upvoted the ideas
should be expanded to include a wider history and personal
factbook.

The Republic of Nova-Scotia
Location: Nova-Scotia
Population: Just under 1 Million
Government: Republic
Economy: Exports Fish, Coal, Steel, Forestry, Salt, Gypsum,
Natural Gas, and Crude Oil. Tourism a large part of the economy
Military: Ceremonial
The Republic of Nova-Scotia came to be in the late 1900s with
the division of Canada into many self governing provinces,
officially separating and declaring independence from Quebec in
1999, the Republic has since became a smallish economic
powerhouse.
The Anarchist State of Cuba
Location: Cuba
Population: ~11 Million
Government: None the Cuban Republic collapsed in 2010
Economy: (In Theory) Exports Crude Oil, Nickel, Alcohol, Raw
sugar, Cement
Military: The former state of Cuba had one of the best equipped,
largest, and well trained militaries in the Caribbean Ocean. As
it currently stands Cuba is defenseless except for some
suspiciously well armed militias.
Populist uprisings in the early 2000s lead to a crackdown by the
then Castro Regime. This only intensified relations between the
government and the people, leading to intense open rebellions in
many parts of the country, in 2010 the regime fell and a brief
Republic was established, this too fell a single year after its
formation. As it stands the people of Cuba are independent of
any governing body, with the exception of some well armed gangs
controlling parts of the island.
The Union of Hispaniola (A Union of Haiti and the Dominican
Republic)
Location: Hispaniola
Population: ~21 Million
Government: A Union of the Haitian Republic and the Dominican
Republic
Economy: Exports Clothes, Coffee, Cocoa, Pineapples, Mangoes,
Jewelry, Cigars, Bananas, Cotton Textiles, Medical Devices
Military: Comprising the current largest military in the
Caribbean, the military has an active service unit of about
50,000 troops. Haitian soldiers function as SWAT units and
Counter-Terrorism, with Dominican Soldiers comprising of the
main force. Relatively modern 90sish.
With the instability of Cuba during the 2000s the world turned
to other Caribbean countries to fill the gap in economic and
political stability that was lacking in the region, turning to
the island of Hispaniola and the two countries located there.
With an increase of economic opportunities the two countries
stopped petty border squabbling and united together to rise to
the occasion. Officially forming the Union of Hispaniola in
2010.

New Prussia
Location: Northish Germany
Population: ~80 Million
Government: Constitutional Monarchy (Elected officials and a
ruling King/Queen)
Economy: Exports Automobiles, Military Technology, Information
Technology
Military: The Largest in Europe, would rival DEN in terms of
tech and scale (except on the question of active service
members)
New Prussia formed with the global phenomenon of Independence
and Secession that took the world by storm in the 1990s. Facing
an economic and perceived "spiritual" crises by many Germans
(ie. they thought they had lost what it meant to be German) the
idea of a New Prussia sounded pretty nice. Conquering large
swaths of land early in its formation it quickly became a
recognized State and a Superpower not only in Europe but of the
world.
The Republic of Liberia
Location: South-Western Coast of Africa (A union of Liberia,
Sierra Leone, Guniea, and the Ivory Coast)
Population: ~41 Million
Government: Democratic Republic
Economy: Various Seafaring vessels, crude oil, Rubber and
extracts, Aluminum, Cocoa Beans, Chocolate, Gold, Diamonds
Military: A conglomeration of rather ineffective 3rd world
militaries, varying degrees of effectiveness, questionable
vehicle serviceability, and a general lack of structure. Roughly
43 thousands active service men
In the late 1980s the Republic of Liberia launched several
successful campaigns against the Ivory Coast, this shifted the
balance of power on the West African Coast with Egypt and South
Africa debating intervention. In an unprecedented move of unity
Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone formed a military alliance to
repel any foreign power, this would later become the Liberian
Republic in the 1990s. A typical 3rd world, poverty and rapid
disease still rampage through the populace, except that the
government really seems to care about its citizens and has made
several active attempts at rescuing and improving the quality of
life for its citizens, leaving the Republic of Liberia to
quickly become a desirable place to live in Africa.
The Corporate City-State of Kyoto
Location: Kyoto, Japan
Population: ~2 Million
Government: Corporate Hierarchy
Economy: Primarily based in Tourism and Information Technology,
exports some traditional Japanese creations like Sake
Military: A variety of PMCs that come at the Corporations beck
and call
In the early 2000s Kyoto, the Capitol of Japan, seceded from the
Japanese Government. Reasons for why have been unnamed but are
widely speculated to be for the interests of the Corporations
and the Free Market. The ruling corporate honchos comprise of
the Nintendo Company, Intelligent Systems, Dainippon Screen,
Tose Co, Omron Corporation, Kyocera, Shimadzu Corp., Rohm Co,
Horiba Co., Nidec Corporation, Nichicon, Nissin Electric, and
the GS Yuasa Corporation. Income disparity is high here, and
Corporations take precedence over the workers.

The French Republic of Quebec
Location: The Province of Quebec and Newfoundland
Population: ~9 Million
Government: Republic
Economy: Primarily a service based economy a world leader in
Aerospace and Information Technology Tourism a large part into
this. Exports Oil (both Crude and Manufactured), Fish, Copper,
Zinc, Silver, Gold, Poultry and Eggs, and various wild berries.
Military: The Canadian Area has a long history of military
successes and history, as such all provinces are well equipped
and sizable, however the Republic of Quebec is the largest and
is considered a Major Power in North America. (Canadian Surplus
if you will eh?) Active Service men and women ~50,000
Another Nation caught in the wave of Secessionism in the 1990s
Quebec realized its dream of finally having the creditability to
formally secede from Canada, at first the newly formed nation
sought refuge with France (seeking to reclaim its French
heritage) only to discover that France itself was facing
internal turmoil. The Conquest of Newfoundland was a major event
in Quebec's history and is celebrated yearly (August 10th).
The Freeland of Scotland
Location: Scotland
Population: ~6 Million
Government: Democratic Republic
Economy: Primarily built upon Shipbuilding, Coal mining, and
Steel, as well as Oil.
Military: Sophisticated and well trained, on the smaller side,
primarily defensive.
Scotland Seceded in 2004 (in response to the United Kingdom's
continued military presence in Afghanistan and the Middle
East((Despite Protests against it))), directly leading to the
fall of the United Kingdom. Becoming a more favorable Nation to
support, as the Conservative Party pushed for an increase in
Defensive Spending and an increase in military presence in the
Middle East, other European Nations quickly supported the newly
formed Scotland and it was drafted into the failing EU. With the
eventual fall of the United Kingdom, England sought to restore
the country by taking military action against their neighbor,
this brought international condemnation against England and
Ireland reclaimed Northern Ireland from the British. Scotland
has since signed a truce with England, however both countries
remain in an effective Cold War.
The Republic of Ireland
Location: Ireland, all of it.
Population: ~7 Million
Government: Democratic Republic
Economy: High technologies industries and the service industry.
Exports include Pharmaceuticals, Medical devices, various
software, Zinc, Beef and Dairy products, Aluminum
Military: Modern and small, however with security concerns over
radical English Terrorists, Defense Spending has increased
leading to a standing army of 20,000.
A European Power and one of the World's Major Powers Scotland
has thrived since independence from Britain. Quickly filling the
gap that the fall of the United Kingdom left in Europe and the
world, Ireland is considered one of the safest countries (and
most desirable) to live in. In recent years radical Englishmen
(and women) have preformed terror attacks in Dublin and other
major Irish Cities, leading the country to block all access to
the British Mainland.

The Pirate Alliance of the Caribbean
Location: The Bahamas, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico
Population: Roughly 7.5 Million People
Government: None an alliance between many Pirate Captains
Economy: Nothing legal everything is black market, occasionally
hired out by other Nations.
Military: Disorganized with no interconnected structure, however
the pirate members are very good at what they do, the Navy
primarily consists of whatever captured vehicles the scallywags
commandeer and custom fit with whatever weapons they desire.
Several containerships have been converted to makeshift
"Aircraft Carriers" (in actuality several utility helicopters
comprise this force, Little Birds, Hueys, Blackhawks, etc.),
along with several older military vehicles (limited).
With the Panama Canal becoming a prime spot for NeoConfederate
Trade, along with trading ships from other countries, as well as
the fall of a sovereign naval power in the Caribbean.
Opportunistic men and women have become pirates, in what is
swiftly becoming the Fourth Great Age of Piracy, governments
have done little to prevent the growth of piracy in the
Caribbean or the world at large. Pirate Captains come from a
variety of backgrounds, defecting Navy officers, tribal leaders,
wealthy individuals, etc. To realize their dreams, and greed, of
becoming a pirate.
The Theocracy of Southern America
Location: Brazil, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French
Guiana, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, most of Argentina,
Ecuador
Population: ~400 Million
Government: Catholic Papacy
Economy: Tourism, and the massive amount of exports that come
from that part of the world. Really big.
Military: While lacking in technological advantages and
training, the sheer number of troops that can be thrown at a war
is not to be underestimated.
Basically Brazil got fed up with the incompetence and corruption
(not to say it itself doesn't have this) amongst its neighbors
so they declared a holy war on the other Latin American
countries and absorbed them into a massive union.

Yihetuan China
Location: North China, bordering Russia, Mongolia, and Korea,
including Beijing.
Population: 400 Million (By propaganda, actual population
unknown)
Government: Unknown (Propaganda says its paradise on Earth)
Economy: Yihetuan China does not trade.
Military: Only vague estimations and whatever propaganda comes
out of the country supports any findings.
Yihetuan China was formed sometime in the 1980s,(but accurate
reports are unknown) China has always been a secretive and
exclusive country, much about it is unknown as the presumed
Government is distrustful of outsiders and those who travel to
the country never return.
The Anarchist Country of France
Location: France
Population: ~70 Million
Government: None
Economy: None
Military: Nothing but suspiciously well armed militias.
In the year 2010 the Republic of France met to dissolve the
government, this was due to take actions over increasing
accusations of rampant corruption in the Government. Only that
by the deadline when the Republic was meant to reform no one had
gotten around to it yet. As it stands today French life varies
widely depending on where they happen to live, the disgraced
England has attempted many coastal raids against France trying
to recapture some of their former glory, however the French
always repel the Englishmen (and women) from their shores. Some
countries have been concerned over France's missing Nuclear
weapons, as France was the 5th largest holder of a nuclear
stockpile, but none have dared to enter the country to discover
the whereabouts.
The Constitutional Monarchy of Britain
Location: The England bit of the British Isles
Population: ~55 Million
Government: Constitutional Monarchy (Prime Minister and
Parliament too)
Economy: With the loss of the United Kingdom, and many portions
of what made a rather stable and influential economy, the
country of Britain has primarily fallen back on its industrious
roots, production of war goods is at an all time high as the
government prepares many (failed) attempts to recapture the
glory of the United Kingdom.
Military: A shell of its former self the once feared British
Navy has been severely downsized by both war and breakaway
mutinies to Scotland and Ireland. Whatever remains of the
equally legendary Intelligent Service is unknown as the agents
have disappeared and the facilities left to decay.
After the secession of both Scotland, and Ireland, along with
heavy tariffs and some embargos by European countries the former
great Kingdom of Britain is a sad shell of its former self. The
air is thick with the fumes and smoke of reopened manufacturing
and heavy industry has taken off in ways not seen since the
Victorian Era, many once famous monuments have been dismantled,
replaced with Aerial defenses or military checkpoints. The
populace remains generally unfazed and have given the situation
a grim optimism, "When we take back the Kingdom, everything will
be better." is the common sentiment.

Oceania
Location: Australia and New Zealand.
Population: 30 million
Government: Democratic Monarchy
Economy: The dollar. Largely based on mining and agriculture.
History:
With the collapse of The United Kingdom and a vote to transform
into a Republic outvoted. The former prison colonies
transformed into an agricultural giant. A Democratic Monachy was
established where every 4 years a new King or Queen is elected
to run the country supported by parliament.
With such an abundance of spare land Oceania is at odds and
frequent wars with its northern neighbors who see opportunities
to expand their own nations.
They have a strong standing army and conscription is enforced
for all male and female citizens.
