Perhaps the station could also act as a refueling station so
that we could do the mars mission in the future.

As a modular expansion of course, not only would that be an
expensive thing to upkeep, but also difficult to transport.

It isn't that difficult. Choose efficient engines and/or have
tanks of fuel that aren't used by the engines to the station
before a mission. Dock then to the space station, and once empty
separate them from the rest of the station. Then repeat. But
they wouldn't be sent up with the main part of the station, ad
that would be too heavy. But having a refueling station much
increases your range for space travel, as the most fuel is used
to escape the atmosphere.

OOC: I don't mean to be insulting, but Kerbal Space Program
makes it look easy, it's not. The entire Gemini program was to
master the process of docking, but it's still incredibly
difficult.

Docking could be made easier by separating camera probes from
the station. This way one could see from all angles as if it
were the game, along with having radio transmissions from the
station giving the crew information on their location and
trajectory.

Those random beams towards the back could be removed. But this
is a good design. We would just need very large engines, and
probably some SRBs to boot unless we can find liquid engines
powerful enough.

board; we can determine that further along. The beams you see in
the back are multi-functional derricks- they're static, meaning
they don't move, but we can run communications through them,
cameras, sensors, possibly even spacewalk assistance.
"Getting crew and supplies to this station can be done via ESA's
Soyuz spacecraft. But we need a heavy lifter to get these
modules into orbit. And assembling them will require a crew to
go with."

Ok, so the beams are important. As for lifting, we have
developed several powerful rockets used in large missiles as
well as scramjets. The use of jets in the atmosphere can improve
efficiency by saving rocket fuel until it's needed.
