       Sports in Columbia

       Of all the controversy Columbia faces it is a state that breeds
       (figuratively of course) some of the best athletes around.
       Places like Frystone house the Columbia Rebels, football is also
       very popular but what about some of the other sports that were
       here since the beginning?
       *Horse Racing: Columbia has housed a House Derby league since
       1825 and it is just coming into the national spotlight with its
       expansion outside Columbia.
       *Greyhound Racing: Beginning in the year 1799, Scottish man,
       Daniel Boot brought over greyhounds and began the Colombian
       Greyhound league. In 2010, laws were put in place to protect the
       hounds from abuse. Today nearly 95 hounds race, while it isn't
       as popular as it once was, it's still key to the athletic
       history of Columbia.
       *Chariot Racing: Even before Columbia had independence, Chariot
       Racing was popular and was the precursor to the Derby League
       today. The Chariot Derby league was offically founded in 1899,
       however, making it younger than the Horse Racing Derby.
       *Coon Hunting: One of the oldest sports in Columbia, another dog
       based sport, flourish to this day. The Colombian Youth Cooney
       Hunting League was founded in 1805. The Championship will take
       place next week on Saturday at sunset.
       *NASCAR: Yes, driving cars may seem unsport like, but the sport
       took off in the mid-50s and since has been a very popular sport
       under the name NASCAR.
       *SPORTS THAT HAVE BEEN OUTLAWED: Chicken Fighting, Dog Fighting
