Education

How controversial would an education bill be? Like establishing
appropriate standards amongst States so that we can reach a
common understanding of each other? Or at least reduce culture
shock that is undoubtedly present in the various cultures
present here.

Was that an honest opinion or just a joke?

I honestly think it will be highly contentious.

So we couldn't compromise? I'm not just pushing an agenda, I do
want to compromise.

Perhaps a compromise such as registering state-wide curricula,
but I don't think that mandating a standard from the confederal
gov't will go over well with a large segment of the NCSA.

Would you personally be against this?

The original thing: yes. The compromise: maybe, it depends on
the details.

I mean would it really be that much to ask that states teach
foreign languages, teach foreign cultures, and ensure that
children have the right to an education?

Asking and forcing are different things. Frijstaat is a
multicultural and multilingual society, should they need to
learn more languages than other monolingual states? Also, how
long is the term 'child' applicable? Kindergarten? Elementary?
High school? Bachelor's? PhD?
I could probably get behind a voluntary ranking system that
would put state ed. systems in competition with one another and
would help to draw students to high performing areas and
convince lower performing ed. systems to innovate.
