Attack at NS Capital

this was the first build that I really took seriously, before I
wasn't really a builder. I had tried out the properties before
but the building interface was unfamiliar and I found it hard
use because it would get laggy, it was hard to adjust angles,
and I ran into trouble with the brick limit and the limitation
of available pieces. so I prefered to just roam around LEGO
Universe and explore and such. Then my brother started building
smaller structures on his prop, at first I wasn't really
interested, but then he started building bigger and bigger
things, I noticed him using some of the techniques other
builders had discovered, like splitting the layers of large
structures so you could avoid hitting the brick limit. Not
wanting to be out done by my twin, my competitive side got the
best of me and I was determined to build something big. I
started building in LDD first so I could easily make adjustments
to the model, and I had unlimited pieces to choose from (so I
didn't have to waste tons of money buying them in LU) I made
sure to keep every model under the brick limit, and once I was
done designing it I started building in LU!
so viola! this is my Nimbus Station property that got into the
Hall of Fame. sadly I never did finish the interior, but I am
glad that I had it mostly finished for people to explore. if
your wondering what the story behind the UFO was, they were
attacking the capital in search of a cows so they could havest
them for chocolate milk, which was unavailable on their planet.
I decided to make a climbing challenge, so at the entrance to
the prop you were encountered by an alien, he gave you a
challenge to make it to the top ufo, the reward was Tasty
chocolate milk! so first you had to make your way through the
building and out to the roof, from there you could hop from
platform to platform of UFOs and floating cows to get up! sadly
though, once a brave minifig made it to the top, he was informed
that the chocolate milk was all gone, so he got a tasty bite of
laser instead :P

That's a very impressive LU building! No wonder it got into the
hall of fame.

I agree; as I've mentioned before, I never had a chance to play
LU for that long(Just about half an hour of bug-filled testing
on my fail graphics card back in Beta. =P), but the properties
have always interested me, and I really wish I had've had a
chance to experience them for myself. And this is just another
example of why I wanted to see them for myself; this sounds and
looks amazing. =D
