TRANSFORMERS: LEGACY – THE JOURNEY TO FIND YOU
Airdate: Wednesday 1st June 2016
Synopsis: A slightly-luminescent pool resides in a darkened
room. With a splash, a hand emerges from the water, clutching at
the side of the pool. A moment passes… and Waspinator surfaces
from the water, gasping for air before collapsing onto the
poolside. He mutters disdainfully about the supposed relaxation,
before Razorbeak approaches him, chuckling and helping him out
of the water. The Phorusrhacos-bot then advises his teammate to
try the meditation chamber instead, though Waspinator quips that
he does not have the attention span to meditate.
Razorbeak: Clearly the light-pool isn’t for you. Maybe the
meditation chamber would suit you better?
Waspinator: Hmmm… don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think
meditation izzz really my thing. Short attention zzzpan.
As they exit the darkened pool area, the full extent of their
current location is revealed – an expansive relaxation park on a
moon, filled with techniques from across the universe. Razorbeak
wonders aloud if Waspinator can relax at all, although they all
need it after their encounter with the Daleks. The Meganeura-bot
relents to this, just as Nightscream and K****h join them.
Nightscream remarks that he wants to make the most of being out
of stasis, and suggests that they take the Luzuros Shuttle to
the planet that the park orbits. With Silverbolt, Dinobot and
Blackarachnia busy elsewhere, it shall just be the four of them.
Waspinator and Razorbeak agree to this. Elsewhere, Silverbolt
and Blackarachnia are both drifting in a zero gravity chamber –
she remarks on their brief deaths recently, and he states that,
despite everything, he has realised that he still fears death.
Smiling lightly, Blackarachnia notes that fearing death is
understandable, and they are lucky to even have second chances
at life. Nightscream, K****h, Waspinator and Razorbeak are
travelling on the Luzuros Shuttle, heading towards the jungle
world below – while the others talk, Waspinator looks around the
many other beings aboard the shuttle, and notices an
unaccompanied child. Concerned, he heads over to the child.
Armour-clad robots aboard the Luzuros Shuttle pass data between
one another with glances, unnoticed by Waspinator as he
approaches the small alien child. Introducing himself, the
Cybertronian then asks the child his name – the boy says that he
is Metri, and that he is looking for his grandfather. Waspinator
speaks up, gaining the attention of those aboard the shuttle and
asking if Metri’s grandfather is present.
Waspinator: Excuzzze me! There’zzz a boy here called Metri! Are
any of you hizzz grandfather? He’zzz looking for hizzz
grandfather!
Noticing this, Nightscream, K****h and Razorbeak join their
teammate and have Waspinator and Metri explain the situation.
They manage to gather that Metri’s grandfather has disappeared –
according to his parents, he is visiting a faraway world. Metri
has snuck aboard the shuttle in the hopes of finding his
grandfather. K****h informs the child that the shuttle only
passes close to the surface of the planet below before returning
to the moon. Metri is clearly upset by this, and Waspinator
tells him that they own a ship, the Legacy-Hunter, which they
can use to try and find his grandfather. Nightscream immediately
counters that they should not simply whisk a child away on
adventures, but the buzzy-voiced bot insists that they should at
least try to help. Relenting, the Maximal trio agree to
Waspinator’s idea – Nightscream contacts Silverbolt, Dinobot and
Blackarachnia, informing them that they shall be leaving the
park shortly. Dinobot ends his meditation, and informs the
others that he shall be waiting aboard the ship for their
return. All the while, Waspinator leads Metri to the windows as
the shuttle passes along the planet’s surface; the two stare out
in wonder, and Metri mentions that his grandfather has visited
lots of planets. On the other hand, he has never left the moon
(in fact, this was his first venture into the relaxation park).
Waspinator tells Metri that he has seen many worlds, and many
amazing things. Metri then asks Waspinator a question – why his
voice is so strange. The Cybertronian is embarrassed about this.
Silverbolt, Dinobot and Blackarachnia are waiting aboard the
Legacy-Hunter as Nightscream, K****h, Waspinator, Razorbeak and
Metri return. The alien child is in awe of the ship’s size and
technology, and Waspinator introduces the other three Maximals
to him (he is somewhat more hesitant of them). Nightscream
explains the situation to the trio, and they start the ship up.
As it jets off into space, the armoured robots from before watch
on, this time greater in number. Dinobot suggests they head to
the nearest inhabited planet first, while K****h retreats to
meditate in the hopes of locating Metri’s grandfather.
Waspinator whisks the child off on a tour of the ship all the
while. What follows is a montage of the team exploring different
worlds – some dominated by cities, others beautiful landscapes,
one a strange alien city floating on an almost-gaseous ocean;
Waspinator and the others continue to bond with Metri all the
while. As they board their ship again, Silverbolt observes that
the child’s parents must be worried by now and that perhaps they
should return back to the moon.
Silverbolt: I hate to bring this to attention, but this has
taken hours already with no luck. We’re fortunate to be able to
visit as many worlds in that time as we can, but the child’s
parents must be concerned by his absence by now. It might be
best to give up and return to the moon.
Waspinator insists that they check one more planet, though
Blackarachnia points out that there is only a miniscule chance
that the grandfather would be there. The buzzy bot counters that
there is no chance of finding him at all if they return home;
Dinobot gives Nightscream a knowing look all the while. The ship
lifts off again, but multiple large grappling-hooks latch onto
it, keeping it tied to the dusty planet that it is attempting to
leave. As the Maximals try to work out what is happening, the
armoured robots make themselves visible. Remotely hacking into
the computers of the Legacy-Hunter, they introduce themselves as
the Vaaroids. K****h asks what they want, and the typed response
comes through: “Metri”.
While the alien child is simply confused, Razorbeak immediately
suggests they head out and fight the Vaaroids – hearing this,
they send another message across, stating that they shall
annihilate the Maximals. Three of the robots begin trying to
break into the Cybertronian ship, and Waspinator quickly leads
Metri deeper into the vehicle to keep him safe. K****h steps up,
and uses her powers to telekinetically send the Vaaroids reeling
away from the ship. Though she tries to remove the
grappling-hooks, she finds that they require too much from her
when she has limited telekinetic skill. Sighing, Nightscream
orders Dinobot, K****h and Razorbeak to join him in combat while
Silverbolt and Blackarachnia try to remove the hooks. The bots
disperse, and the Vaaroids respond in kind, quickly displaying
their advanced technology and limited liquid-metal shapeshifting
abilities. Even K****h’s pyrokinesis does little damage, and she
resorts to using her phoenix-mode flames to try and attack.
Silverbolt and Blackarachnia manage to make reasonable progress
in removing the hooks, while fighting off Vaaroids. Waspinator
tries to keep Metri calm, and goes to tell him the story of the
Beast’s attack on Cybertron, only to realise that it will likely
disturb the child.
Waspinator: Hey, it’zzz okay, it’zzz okay! Lemme tell you a
story… an adventure I took part in. There wazzz thizzz villain
called the Beazzzt, and he wazzz trying to dezzztroy-
*Metri looks at him in fear*
Waspinator: - a-and it, uhm, wazzz probably not a zzztory
appropriate for a child…
Metri then states that his grandfather would be able to help
them, and bemoans his disappearance. Eventually, Dinobot and
Razorbeak cooperate and manage to decapitate one of the Vaaroids
– the other robots hesitate, and then retreat. Silverbolt and
Blackarachnia finish unhooking the ship, while Nightscream takes
the removed Vaaroid head to analyse. The Maximals all board the
ship again, and inform Waspinator that everything is okay. He
informs Metri, who proceeds to hug him in relief, taking the
Cybertronian by surprise.
As the ship heads to one final world, its computer systems
analyse the contents of the Vaaroid’s brain. Silverbolt,
Dinobot, Blackarachnia and Nightscream are sat in the bridge,
analysing the data as it comes through. Elsewhere on the ship,
K****h, Waspinator and Razorbeak are seeing to Metri as he naps;
the mechs discuss the possibility of having to return him to his
family without finding his grandfather, while K****h presses a
hand to his head. She attempts to probe his mind, and finds
images of his grandfather. Retracting, the phoenix-bot wonders
aloud if Metri’s grandfather is even still alive, which saddens
Waspinator.
K****h: I’m beginning to wonder if Metri’s grandfather is still
alive at all…
Waspinator: No… come on, don’t zzzay that! He’zzz just… on
another planet!
The others find that the Vaaroids are from the future – they
have been sent back in time by a future villain, who intends on
preventing Metri from become a great hero, following in the
footsteps of his grandfather. Checking the dates, it becomes
apparent that his grandfather passed away mere days ago. Dinobot
solemnly states that he believed this to be true, and
Nightscream has Silverbolt begin to pilot the ship back to the
moon. K****h, Waspinator and Razorbeak enter the bridge, and are
informed of the recent revelations – Waspinator is shocked by
this, and frets over how to tell Metri the truth. Razorbeak
points out that the bigger problem is keeping him safe from the
Vaaroids, and Nightscream commands the ship’s computers to write
new programming to send to the other Vaaroids… to self-destruct.
He then orders Silverbolt to fly the ship to visit the villain.
Powering up the ship’s chrono-generator, the team heads for the
future. In a broken citadel, a humanoid alien clad in similar
armour to the Vaaroids is stalking the corridors… and notices
the arrival of the Legacy-Hunter. Grimacing, he heads out of the
citadel.
The Maximals, minus Waspinator, disembark from their ship as
the armoured villain approaches them. Nightscream introduces
himself, and the alien likewise gives his name as N’Tez. He
tells them that he knows who they are thanks to his Vaaroid
network, and elaborates that Metri’s heroic adventures
indirectly lead to his home-world’s destruction. The Maximals
argue that this is no reason to try and kill an innocent child,
especially if he had no intention of destroying N’Tez’s world.
The villain simply roars that the universe has no inherent
morals, and he will do as he must, before lashing out at the
Maximals. All the while, Metri enters the bridge, and asks
Waspinator when they shall find his grandfather. Turning to him
with a bitter smile, he begins to explain to him gently that his
grandfather is no longer alive, and no one lives forever… but
they shall live on in his heart, and in his legacy.
Waspinator: Metri… you know, nobody livezzz forever. Even people
like me… eventually, we’ve lived azzz much azzz we’re ever going
to live. And that’zzz okay. It’zzz zzzad, but it’zzz okay.
Because your grandfather… he zzzaw zzzo many worldzzz, and he
helped more people than you could count. What you’ve got to
remember, Metri… what you’ve got to remember izzz that he
mattered. Everyone matterzzz to other people, and that’zzz how
they live on. Your grandfather… he izzzn’t… he izzzn’t here,
anymore. He’zzz not on another planet. He’zzz gone further away
than that. You won’t zzzee him again… but he will alwayzzz be
with you. In your heart, and in everything you do… he’ll be
there. He’zzz there in your legacy, Metri.
Metri is taken aback, and begins crying; Waspinator gives him a
comforting hug. N’Tez is defeated by the Maximals, with K****h
reaching into his mind and locking him into a coma. Nightscream
says that they shall leave him with a local galactic authority.
A little while later, just outside of the relaxation park, the
Maximals say their goodbyes to Metri. The boy hugs Waspinator,
and thanks him for his help. Waspinator wishes him luck, before
he hurries off to return home. The others board the
Legacy-Hunter, leaving Waspinator to continue watching Metri’s
departure. After a brief, distinct musical motif, Medusa steps
into shot – she simply observes “good riddance”, but Waspinator
insists that she came to care for the child as much as him. The
viper-bot denies this unconvincingly, before questioning what
kind of hero Metri will become. She then boards the ship, before
Waspinator says aloud that the boy shall live his grandfather’s
legacy. The Meganeura-bot is the last to head onto the ship.
