heroes are left to work out what the message means, and what the
consequences will be if they fail. Starring Daniela Bobadilla,

UNTIL THE SUN SETS
Airdate: Saturday 29th November 2014
Synopsis: Deep below the waves, an alien coral reef glows and
shimmers with cool cyan light. Prophecy floats by in an energy
bubble, watching the corals intently. She then allows the bubble
to lift back up to the surface, where the other Maximals are
visible on the beach nearby.

The sunlight shines down on the Maximals as they enjoy the
warmth – Wildfire and Swingback are amidst a ‘sand-fortress’
competition, while Andromeda searches out interesting objects.
As she passes Wildfire and Swingback, the bobcat-bot blushes at
her, before asking for her verdict on his fortress. After
studying it, she places a large shell on the top, although
Swingback yells that additions are against the rules.
Waspinator, Scale, Paladin and Mirage are sat together,
discussing the state of affairs that their species has gotten
into. Paladin questions how long the numerous colony worlds will
manage to escape the reach of the conflict, and Mirage posits
that they will end up drawn in by some means or another.
Paladin: It’s worrying, though. All the other universes are
completely involved, but there are hundreds of Cybertronian
colony worlds in this universe. How long can they go without
knowing about this war?
Mirage: They’ll find out. Sooner or later, somehow, they’ll find
out about it.
All the while, Scale glares at the tree-line; upon questioning,
he remarks that he feels as though they are being watched.
Prophecy returns to the shore, and declares that they will not
be leaving just yet, which Waspinator confirms, stating that
they may even stay overnight. Mirage reminds him that the Dawn
Katana was unable to find information on the planet, and there
may be nocturnal predators, even as Scale activates his
stealth-mode and heads into the trees. Narrowing his eyes,
Waspinator orders Paladin to follow Scale. At this point,
Wildfire, Swingback and Andromeda have noticed too, and ask what
is happening. Waspinator explains Scale’s feeling of being
watched, and Wildfire wonders if the cause is heatstroke.
Paladin catches up with Scale, who immediately bemoans having a
tag-along when he is trying to be stealthy (Paladin quips that
being in greyscale instead of yellow-and-purple does not make
him that much harder to see). The two suddenly hear rustling,
and pause, with Scale quietly drawing out shuriken to use.
However, only a small animal emerges from the bushes. All the
while, a shadowed figure approaches the others from the
tree-line…
As Waspinator tries to dismiss Wildfire’s heatstroke theory, an
almost-ethereal being appears from the trees. Andromeda is the
first to notice, and quickly draws the attention of the others.
The figure introduces himself as Elemara, and immediately has to
insist to Wildfire, Swingback and Andromeda that his name is a
male one. With that resolved, he welcomes the group of Hekyra,
and asks if they are enjoying their stay. After an awkward
response from the confused Maximals, Elemara informs them that
they must let go – which, naturally, only confuses the group
further. The spirit-like being continues, telling them that they
have until the sun sets to do this, or they shall be unable to
leave the planet.
Elemara: You have a few hours right now, right up until the sun
sets. You need to let go before then… or you won’t be able to
leave this world.
Mirage asks what he means by ‘let go’, but he is already
starting to disappear; he simply suggests they be quick, as the
sun shall be beginning its descent soon. With that, he vanishes
entirely – Wildfire asks if he was hallucinating or if everyone
else saw Elemara too. Ignoring his question, Mirage starts to
work out what the spirit could have meant by ‘let go’. She
suggests that the simplest thought is that they have unresolved
emotions that they need to deal with, although the others seem
to feel that they have no such unresolved emotions. Only
Prophecy does not respond, instead staring curiously out at the
sea. Scale and Paladin return, the former questioning why he
felt as though he was being watched, and Waspinator informs them
of Elemara’s visit. The two likewise shrug off there being
anything they need to let go of, but Mirage reminds them that
they will be unable to leave if they do not let go. Scale
questions if they can even trust the word of an apparent spirit,
but Waspinator reasons that they have to for now. He suggests
that, for now, they spend some time trying to think of any
unresolved feelings they hold, and to go about trying to resolve
them.
A short while later, Waspinator is sat by himself on a large
rock, in a small area surrounded by trees – he is silent, but
visibly troubled. After a few moments, he calls out the name
Illyiara, and Arcrise emerges from his shadow. She asks him what
is wrong, and he starts to explain the situation, although she
notes that she is already aware. Rather, she wants to know why
he summoned him. The leader sighs, and tells her that he feels
his unresolved feelings might be with regards to his past
relationships. He questions if he still loves them, and feels
guilt for losing them. Arcrise responds by asking if he still
has feelings for her; he stares into her eyes, and claims that
it is complicated. The phoenix-bot asks how he feels about
Mirage, and Waspinator tries to put into words how his love for
Mirage is different from his other relationships. Just then,
Mirage herself approaches him, and sees Arcrise – she notes the
coincidence, and as Waspinator goes to explain, the
former-pharaoh remarks that, despite herself, she still feels
jealousy towards Arcrise for her former relationship with
Waspinator – which leaves the hornet-bot surprised. On the
beach, Wildfire explains to Andromeda that he still feels that
he does not quite fit with the team. Andromeda points out that
he saved their lives not too long ago, and has been a valuable
member.
Andromeda: … I don’t get that.
Wildfire: Huh? Really?
Andromeda: Well think about it. You saved our lives not long
ago, and that’s just the biggest of a whole bunch of things
you’ve done for the team. You’re important. We all are – that’s
what a team is, right?
Wildfire smiles, thanking her (and making an aside that he
should speak with Scale about his feelings, as the older bot
offered on Valoran), and then asks if anything is troubling her.
She shrugs, remarking that she is somewhat homesick, but that
she can resolve that simply by remembering how the Dawn Katana
is her new home, and the Maximals are her new family. Wildfire
beams at that, and claims that he will happily be like a
brother, before stumbling over himself in trying to discard the
notion of a sibling relationship for a romantic one.
Mirage continues explaining that, although she knows that her
love for Waspinator is real and strong, she feels stupidly
concerned that Arcrise has the capacity to take him away from
her. Arcrise goes to respond, but Waspinator silences her, and
tells Mirage that his feelings for Arcrise are completely
different from his feelings for her. The jackal-bot questions if
that is a good thing or a bad thing, and Waspinator groans,
saying it is good, but that he cannot put it all into words
properly. Arcrise turns to Mirage, and starts to explain
Waspinator’s romantic history – Isis, Tailturn, Evolution,
Streetwise, Cloudraker, herself, and now Mirage. She points out
that almost all of these relationships ended abruptly and badly,
and Waspinator still cares deeply about them… but he and
Cloudraker turned each other down when they regained their
timeline a memories, and he does not desire a relationship with
Streetwise. Mirage interrupts, noting that his feelings for
Illyiara – for Arcrise – could well be different, and Waspinator
stands up, stating that he cares for her in a way that has no
word… but that it is not love, and will not get in the way of
his love for Mirage.
Mirage: That’s all fine, but that’s Cloudraker and Streetwise.
What about Illyiara – you? What if he feels differently about
you?
*Waspinator stands up*
Waspinator: I do feel different about her. There’s no word for
how I feel about her, because it’s something that I don’t think
many people feel… and that’s not love. I don’t love her, not
like that. Not like you. The way I feel about Arcrise will never
change how much I love you.
The two share a kiss, while Arcrise notices the deepening orange
of the sky. Paladin and Swingback, meanwhile, are sat within the
Dawn Katana: Swingback is explaining that her anger is an
important part of her, and that she simply needs to vent it.
Smiling, Paladin applauds her conclusion, as she humorously
deflects his praise out of modesty. She then questions what
unresolved feelings he has – he shrugs, stating that the state
of his fellow people on Heng still upsets him but that he has
accepted it; and his attraction to Swingback is likewise
something that he has already resolved with her. Looking a
little concerned now, Swingback questions if he can truly have
nothing troubling him, and Paladin responds by smiling, albeit a
slightly forced smile.
Scale is sat alone amongst the trees; Wildfire excitedly
approaches him, saying that he no longer needs to turn to him
for advice (Scale has to think of what he means, and then notes
that the bobcat-bot has barely turned to him anyway). Upon being
questioned, the former-mercenary remarks that his unresolved
feelings were towards being part of a team. He has reached the
conclusion that he has found the sweet-spot – he has autonomy,
but is willing to help and work with the others. Wildfire
teasingly suggests that he now cares about the team, though
Scale dismisses this.
Wildfire: … heh… heheheh!
Scale: Don’t laugh like that, kid, it doesn’t suit you.
Wildfire: Maybe you care more about the team than you like to
think…
Scale: And don’t suggest stupid slag like that, either!
They then receive contact from Waspinator, who calls the group
back to the location of the Dawn Katana. Shortly after, the
entire team, including Arcrise, have gathered outside of the
ship. The sky is now a deep orange, with tinges of purple-blue
fading through. The others greet Arcrise, and Waspinator asks if
they have already ‘let go’ – they confirm as such, but Elemara
appears, noting that they have not. He explains that the planet
has a telepathic ocean – or more specifically, telepathic coral
– and it can sense a deep regret still within one of the
Maximals. The spirit adds that they have only half an hour left,
before vanishing. Swingback bemoans Paladin no longer having his
telepathy, as he could have communicated with the coral to gain
the answer. However, Waspinator claims that he already has it,
and leads Paladin off. As they reach the beach, Paladin asks why
Waspinator has taken him aside. The hornet-bot explains that the
telepathic coral should be able to extend the residual
telepathic ability that Paladin still has. He elaborates that
the lyrebird-bot should still hold imprints of the minds he
touched… including Cross-Shot. Paladin’s eyes widen at this, and
he immediately pleads with Waspinator not to have him do this,
but Waspinator insists – to allow the team to leave Hekyra,
Paladin must let go of the imprint of Cross-Shot left in his
mind.
Paladin tries to reason with Waspinator, claiming that he has
been comforted by being able to hold Cross-Shot close. The
leader responds that Cross-Shot is gone, and that retaining a
shadow of her mind is not healthy. Paladin snarls that
Cross-Shot is not gone if he still has her, before collapsing
onto the beach, holding back tears. Kneeling down with him,
Waspinator tells him that he had a hunch that he still felt the
loss of the bot who was like a sister to him, but that he needs
to let go of her. Light shines from the water, and a faint image
of Cross-Shot appears at the water’s edge. She gently calls out
to Paladin, and he gets to his feet, walking over to her. The
telepathic ghost thanks him for caring about her, and for still
caring even after she betrayed them. Paladin, in turn, thanks
her for helping him and being so amazing. He begins to tear up
again; Cross-Shot hugs him, and soothingly tells him that even
if she is no longer in his head, she will always be in his
spark.
Cross-Shot: Shh, it’s okay… it’s okay. You don’t need me hanging
around in your mind. Even if I’m not in your head, I will always
be in your spark. Just don’t forget me and I will never leave
you.
She opens his hand and places the telepathic image of her bow in
his hand, before pulsing away to the rhythm of the reef’s glow.
Once she vanishes, all that remains is the telepathic bow, which
retreats into Paladin’s mind as he collapses to the sand again –
Waspinator goes to comfort him. Elemara leads the other Maximals
onto the beach, and explains to them that the coral knew that
Paladin was holding onto a lost soul. Its aim is to help
visitors overcome their unresolved grief, keeping them on the
planet until they do. Scale questions what Elemara is, and he
tells them he is an extension of the telepathy. The coral basks
in the sun’s light at day, and then shines brighter at night;
Elemara is barely corporeal at day, but becomes whole at night,
a raving monster of accumulated grief who aims to torture and
kill visitors. As such, he acts alongside the coral in trying to
guide visitors before nightfall. With the sun about to set, he
suggests the team leave now – Waspinator helps Paladin up, and
the group leave the beach.
Later, in the training room on the Dawn Katana, Paladin draws
Cross-Shot’s telepathic bow from his mind and unevenly fires a
psionic arrow. Elsewhere, Arcrise hugs Waspinator goodbye and
steps into his shadow, as Prophecy approaches Waspinator
cheerily. He asks her if she could tell him what she let go of;
she giggles, and says it was her fear and uncertainty as to the
way their journey ends.
