The Maximals set out to assist an alien culture, and end up with
more than they bargained for in the form of parasite
infestations. Locked in quarantine, the bots succumb to the
biological effects of their new passengers and psychoses
develop. As our heroes begin to turn on one another, the
question arises… are they alone? Starring Daniela Bobadilla,
Susan Eisenberg, Jocelyne Loewen, Scott McNeil, Tuppence

       THE MONSTERS INSIDE
       Airdate: Friday 31st October 2014
Synopsis: A dark jungle filled with the sounds of alien insects
       – Waspinator flies through in beast mode, hunting after a
rusty-looking robotic being. Upon reaching a small clearing, the
Maximal transforms into robot mode and fires upon the robot,
causing it to explode and splatter him with an eerie blue
liquid. With that done, Waspinator uses his comm.-link to note
       that the job is done.
       [logo only]
The Maximals reunite outside an ornate (yet obviously
technologically-advanced) temple, all splattered with blue
‘blood’. An alien of high standing approaches them, thanking
them for hunting their invisible assailants. Waspinator assures
them that they are happy to help, although Mirage is obvious not
as happy. The gathered crowd cheers them. A little while later,
the group are heading back to the spaceport – Wildfire is
talking at length about the exhilaration and fear he felt during
the mission, only to stop when he realises that Andromeda is
distracted by a small, shiny device that she has picked up. When
she notices his frustration, he immediately covers it up,
stumbling over himself first verbally, then physically. Paladin
remarks that he is surprised the team manages to function so
efficiently, as they reach the entrance to the spaceport… and
upon walking through a scanning system in the entrance, are met
with an alarm sound and armed guards. Waspinator asks what is
wrong, and one of the guards notes that they have an invisible
       substance on their bodies.
       Waspinator: Is something wrong?
Guard: We need you to stay where you are. The scanner has
dedicated an invisible substance on your bodies, all eight of
       you.
Scale quickly points out that they can see it – a blue liquid
from the robot assailants. The guard, however, explains that the
substance contains tiny parasites that the scanner has detected.
       He presses a few buttons, and the scanning system seals itself;
Swingback quickly attempts to break out, to no avail, as
Waspinator insists that they stay calm. A heavy wash of
chemicals cascades down onto them at that moment, and after it
finishes, they are scanned again. The guard informs them that,
while the external liquid and the parasites in it have been
purged, some have already made their way inside the
Cybertronians’ bodies. He grimly informs them that, regrettably,
they must be moved into quarantine. The ‘cage’ that is the
scanning system begins to move up like an elevator, as many of
the Maximals, Swingback especially, display their fear and
       concern.
High in the planet’s atmosphere, the scanning system reaches a
large facility, free-floating in the sky. The thick glass walls
part, and the Maximals cautiously step out into the area (a
timer starts up in the corner of the screen). A voice comes over
a speaker system, explaining that this is the quarantine bay,
where they will stay until the infestation passes, a treatment
is found, or the Maximals die. Swingback once again becomes
frantic, stating that she has a fear of falling severely ill,
and this harsh treatment is only exacerbating it. Waspinator
again insists that she calm down, but Swingback snaps at him,
stating that they will die on the quarantine bay. Mirage points
out that they do not know that, and that it is important to
       remain rational.
Mirage: We don’t know that. Realistically, we could die at any
moment from one thing or another. We just need to be rational
       right now.
The group all take a seat, and Scale asks how they plan on
passing the time. 0:14 – Waspinator is telling the others of his
adventures in timeline a, specifically the conflict against the
Master and the Transtech upgrades. 1:27 – the group are laughing
as Paladin impersonates the guard with his impeccable mimicry,
although Swingback is obviously still on-edge. 3:04 – many of
the bots are now wandering around the room, and conversation has
died down. Prophecy suggests they explore, although Waspinator
is cautious considering they have no map; Andromeda proposes
leaving a trail of objects which they can pick up again as they
return to the main room. The trio head off, with Wildfire
following along and Andromeda putting down items from her
satchel at regular intervals. 3:20 – the four find a kitchen,
and Prophecy starts exploring as Wildfire asks Waspinator what
he thinks the parasites will do – his theory being that they
will attack the team’s sparks. The leader angrily suggests they
may simply lie dormant, and that he hopes they will have no
effect especially due to his immortality. Prophecy claims that
she is bored, but upon heading back out of the kitchen, she
       finds the trail missing.
3:36 – the other four Maximals discuss the possibility of
having to return the conflict against Necrocide at some point,
with Mirage especially uninterested in giving up on exploring to
fight what she considers a bitter conflict. At that point,
Waspinator and co. return, noting that the trail they left has
vanished (Andromeda bemoans the loss of some of her collected
items) – the suggestion that there is another person on the
quarantine bay quickly arises, and Swingback becomes desperately
frantic, stating that their lives are endangered and running
       off.
Swingback: Oh Primus… oh Primus, no, no! They’ll kill us!
They’re going to kill us! Someone’s here and they want to kill
       us!
       Scale: Swingback-
Swingback: We’re in danger! I don’t want to die, I don’t want to
die, I don’t want to die!
Paladin notes that they should follow her, but Mirage notes that
they will struggle to find her and all end up lost on the ship.
When Swingback calms down, she will return to them. Waspinator
audibly growls at this, shocking everyone including himself. The
bots seat themselves down again, as Wildfire suggests that the
absence of any food in the kitchen indicates that whoever else
is on the bay may have been there long enough to consume all of
the food. 5:17 – Swingback has still not returned, and the
Maximals are sat in silence. Scale speaks up, and Paladin mimics
what he says, much to the surprise of the others. Paladin starts
breathing heavily, and as the others discuss heading out as a
group to find Swingback and the other being, Paladin continually
mimics them under his breath, until Waspinator viciously yells
at him to shut up, getting the exact same as a response.
Andromeda notes that Paladin’s mimicry is starting to disturb
her, and Mirage suggests they head off and leave him behind. She
leads them off as Waspinator snarls again, and Scale places a
camera down, mumbling about keeping watch as he follows the
others. Paladin again copies Scale’s mumbling, before remaining
in silence, staring at the camera.
5:32 – the Maximals head through the corridors of the
quarantine bay; Prophecy begins narrating their actions, as
Scale glares at the others from the back of the group.
Waspinator suddenly snaps, yelling that Mirage has no idea where
they are going and that the group as a whole are useless. He
goes to attack Mirage, but is intercepted by Scale, who
efficiently and ruthlessly incapacitates the hornet-bot. Mirage
goes to thank Scale, but he yells that he is prepared to take
out anyone else who threatens the mission. Mirage is taken
aback, but continues leading the group, ignoring Waspinator.
Andromeda seems troubled as they move on. 6:47 – Mirage
continues leading the Maximals through the identical hallways of
the quarantine bay as Prophecy continues to narrate. Noticing
Andromeda wincing, Wildfire asks her if she is okay, and the
fembot asks if he can hear the buzzing sound. The bobcat-bot
says that he cannot, just as the five hear a loud clang nearby.
Mirage wonders aloud what it could be, while Scale, brazenly
runs off down the corridor. Another loud sound is heard, and
Wildfire rushes over to find Scale knocked unconscious. He
returns to the others, informing them of what has happened, and
Mirage questions who could have done it, and when Wildfire
suggests Swingback or the unknown entity, the fembot expresses
no knowledge of who he means.
       Wildfire: Someone’s… someone’s knocked Scale out. I didn’t see
anyone else there, so I don’t know who did it.
Mirage: That’s unsettling. Who could have done that to him?
Wildfire: Well… Swingback, or whoever else is on this thing, I
       guess.
       Mirage: Who?
       Wildfire: Sorry…?
Mirage: I don’t know who you’re talking about.
As the conversation continues, Mirage starts to forget who they
are even talking about – Wildfire asks if she remembers why they
are heading through the quarantine bay, and she becomes
disturbed, before quickly gathering herself and carrying on.
Andromeda shakes her head as she continues wincing; Wildfire
tells her that all of this may be connected to the parasites,
but he is unsure why he is experiencing no effects. The
magpie-bot yells that she can hardly hear him, as they continue
       on after Mirage.
8:03 – Swingback stumbles upon the main room, where she finds
Paladin staring at Scale’s camera. She shakily asks where “it”
is, and Paladin simply copies her, quickly aggravating her mania
as the ‘conversation’ goes on and causing her to brutally knock
him unconscious. Elsewhere, Mirage is still leading Prophecy,
Wildfire and Andromeda through the quarantine bay; Wildfire asks
Mirage if they should rest for a while, but the fembot fails to
respond. The younger bot quickly realises that she is now
unaware of anyone else, and leads Prophecy and Andromeda off on
a different path. Talking to himself, he figures that the best
plan of action is to find a way to contact the planet below and
ask for advice or a progress on finding a treatment.
Wildfire: Okay, let me think… there’s no way I can stop this by
myself, and Andromeda and Prophecy can’t help, so… maybe there’s
a way to contact someone on the surface? And then… I can ask if
they have a cure yet. Yeah, that should maybe work…
       Waspinator suddenly appears, and goes to attack the trio;
Prophecy simply sits down and narrates, while Wildfire is forced
to protect a pained Andromeda. Struggling against Waspinator’s
size, skill and killing intent, Wildfire is forced to use the
older bot’s mass against him, toppling him into a room and
trapping him inside. Injured, Wildfire continues leading
Andromeda on, while Prophecy remains behind. 8:52 – Wildfire and
Andromeda reach a circular room, and the fembot begs Wildfire to
knock her unconscious to stop the sound she can hear. The mech
initially refuses, but Andromeda begins to beg and he
reluctantly hits her head hard, knocking her out. After a
moment, Wildfire realises that he is now alone, just before a
loud banging begins from somewhere else on the quarantine bay.
He tilts his head back, exhaling, before noticing a map of the
bay on the room’s ceiling. Suddenly full of hope, he takes note
of the location of the communications room, hefts Andromeda onto
his back (getting a little flustered by her closeness), and
heads out of the room. He sets off, as the banging becomes
       louder.
8:55 – Wildfire continues towards the communications room with
Andromeda on his back, the banging becoming ever-more prominent,
only for Prophecy to run into him from another corridor. As the
two recover, Prophecy narrates that Wildfire does not remember
anything before the bay, and the bobcat-bot realises this is
true – no matter how hard he tries, his memories only cover his
time on the vessel. This is his own issue, and as all of the
bots’ problems are psychological, he realises that the parasites
are targeting their brains. Comparing this to his earlier
thought, he wonders if the parasites are actively avoiding their
sparks; he opens his spark chamber, and feels his head and
nervous system burn for a moment, before recalling the past.
Cheerily, he opens Andromeda’s too, and while she awakens from
the pain, she quickly finds that the sound is gone. She suggests
they find the others, but Prophecy, having opened her own spark
chamber, notes that the parasites shall soon begin consuming the
other bots’ brains, and chronoskims the trio. 0:00 – the three
hear the guard’s broadcast, and Prophecy tells Wildfire and
Andromeda that they shall now fulfil the role of the other
       entity before saving the others.
Andromeda: Hang on, if we’ve travelled back in time… that means
       there’s eleven people here.
Prophecy: Yep, we’re the other entity! First rule of
time-travel- no, eleventh? A rule of time-travel: make sure
things happen that did happen that wouldn’t happen if you didn’t
       make them happen!
Wildfire: As in, do what the ‘other entity’ did?
Prophecy: Ding-ding-ding! And then we’ll save everyone once they
split off from us. Simple, right?
1:12 – the three move the food out of the kitchen. 3:22 –
Andromeda starts to gather up her trail, glad to have not lost
the items. 6:50 – they wake up Scale. 8:10 – they wake up
Paladin. 8:34 – Swingback finds an unaware Mirage, as the trio
approach them. 8:46 – the gathered Maximals free Waspinator, and
subdue him as Mirage opens his spark chamber. 8:52 – in the
communications room, Waspinator contacts the planet below and
insists that they have found the cure: a scan runs through the
vessel, and the guard confirms that they are cured. Outside,
Swingback apologises to Scale for knocking him out; Waspinator
leaves the communications room, leading the team back to the
main room and assuring them that the ordeal is over.
Aboard the Dawn Katana, the ship’s A.I. explains that the
parasites were most likely neural carnivores, which attack the
brains of technological or semi-technological organisms, causing
strange psychoses before fully devouring the brain and taking
hive-control over the body. They are spread through the ‘blood’
spilt when the bodies are damaged. Elsewhere, Andromeda points
out to Wildfire that he opened her spark chamber – he
immediately becomes flustered, but she coos that there is no one
she would rather have do it, before kissing him. Wildfire comes
very close to passing out, as Andromeda giggles.
